Yes, I know that my invites have only been out for a week...but so far, with the exception of one of FMIL's friends and her second cousin, the only RSVPs have been immediate immediate family (parents, siblings, grandparents, aunts uncles and cousins) and BP, which isn't always mutually exclusive. I'm impatient, and I want to know if FH's coworkers and our extended family is coming!
How long on average did it take all you girls to crack the second layer of guests? A few weeks, a month, longer?

Re: How long did it take...
We sent our invites out on August 21st and we have been getting an average of 3 responses a day lately. Mostly from the outside circle. It took a few weeks to start getting those responses. But it has really been pretty random...just be patient!!!

Re: How long did it take...
Im living this right now and thing I have a good perspective on it.
First, since you sent your invites early you have a lot more waiting time for all of them. So first, I say be VERY VERY patient. Its killing me, but thats what im doing. A lot of people (unfortunatly) wait till the last min to send RSVP. They also loose them. :::sigh:::::
We sent out invites for 200 people. Sent Aug 16th for a Sept 24th RSVP.
In 2 1/2 weeks, we got 100 responses. so, basically, in 50% of the time we got 50% responses.
When we got the first 10 no's we send out 4 invites for 7 people. (That was the second week)
Last week we sent out more 'B' list. Another 3 invites for 6 people. One more would have been sent out but they verbally said they could not make it.
So now, I have 21 no's. If EVERYONE else says yes (with our 'projected' no's) we will be 2 over the min.
Next week we are going to send out the rest of the 'B' list (the outer list) of 10 more people, 5 invites.
I keep a hawk eye on the guest list EVERY day. I have a spread sheet that fills in the # of yes and no. Every saturday I go over the list and see who came in, who hasnt and who has indicated they might not come but has NOT sent a response.
So in 3 weeks I have 107 yes, 21 no.
1. 1 1/2 weeks after invites went out- sent out for 7 people.
2. 2 1/2 weeks later I sent out for 6 people
3. 3 1/2 weeks (next week) I will send out another batch for 8-10 people.
The reason I can send them out is because I am doing math. X people said no, so I can send out X more. Then I also weigh how many RSVP's are left. If all the people said yes I would be 2 over min. So then Im safe to send out to the last 8.
I HOPE this made sense.
Basically, base your 'outer circle' on the amount of no's you get. When one no comes in you can send another invite out.
I HOPE this helps. Let me know if I can help anymore.

Re: How long did it take...
Im about 3 weeks into it and I have yet to crack that circle! 75% of my BP hasn't even responded yet!!! (although i think they just assume they are coming, but would b nice) So far its just my immediate side of the family and a hand full from fh's side. Which I am surprised because he called and got snippy w/ everyone when they didnt rsvp to the shower lol OR maybe thats why no one is responding lol

YIKES!!!
I missunderstood your question!!!!
Its been random for rsponses. Like I said I got 50% in 2 weeks (50% of the time).
Im still waiting for BRIDAL party to respond.

Re: How long did it take...
Our RSVPs poured in in the beginning and the end. We had a very big break in the middle where we would get 1 a day if we were lucky. Towards the end alot came in the last week and some even a few days after. We started calling people a week before the RSVP date to remind them that we hadn't recieved theirs yet. I just told them I needed them BY the 25th.. so I was giving them a call to remind them.
Some people we called RSVP'ed over the phone because they 'Lost' the invite. SO that helped pick up our numbers.
I noticed that I had alot of close family members send it immediately and alot that waited until the last minute. There was no rhyme or reason with our rsvps.

Re: How long did it take...
i'd say the majority came like 3 weeks into them being at. i had some right away, then like i said b4 , the majority came at one time, then a few here and there afterwards

Re: How long did it take...
I think the reason your responses aren't exactly pouring in is because your wedding is still 3 months away. People don't make it a priority. We sent ours out just less than 8 weeks before, with 4 weeks to RSVP. We found they started coming in quite quickly but then tapered off. I'm sure they will start rolling in closer to the response date. It's tough because you're probably trying to do a B list, and sometimes people taking forever to send back replies throws a wrench in that. It's annoying
