Approximately how long did it take you to find a house on Long Island? And then how long did it take you to close?

we were looking like 2 months and found a couple we were intersting in but were out bid on them.

like 2 months of going out each weekend for looking, in addition to checking house ads before we started..... and 1 1/2 for closing......

We looked for about 6 months. We looked online using sites like realtor.com and foxtons.com.
We checked the open houses each weekend and worked with 2 realtors who would then show us exclusive open houses.
We finally found a home in one of our target areas in Seaford. We found it on foxtons.com. They were a real pain to work with. In the end, we are very happy and loving our home!
We looked for less than a month. We went out every day though. I think teh closing will be in NOvember~about three months after date of contract.

We looked for just under 2 months. We closed 2 -2 1/2 months after we found the house.

Almost a year to find our house because we had real specific needs. About two months to close if that long.

about four months of seriously looking... both online and going to showings..
still waiting to close..it's been about 2 and a half months since our bid was accepted.

We started looking in April, 2003. We went to contract in June, 2003. We closed in August, 2003. We move in September, 2003.

about 2 months. We started looking around 2/14 found it on 4/14, closed on 6/15 and moved in on 7/16!

we looked for about 4-6 months almost every weekend, I dont know how long before that we look just on the websites. It felt like forever because we were really picky about what we wanted! We found our house in February, our bid was accepted, the contracts didnt get signed by the sellers for more than a month (they still needed to find a house) and we close in June. So just under 4 months from the day we bid on the house!

we only seriously looked for about 2 weeks, but i saw at least 25 places in that time. i'm not working this summer so i was able to look at a lot of places during the week while DH was at work. the closing is supposed to be just a little over 2 months from when our offer was accepted
