I am still trying to decide if I have enough time in between the church and the reception. I don't want to feel too rushed....if the pics take a couple of hours, I think I'd rather just get married at the hall. I would like to take the majority of my pics at a photo spot near my hall, and a few others at the hall. Please help!

Re: How long did your pictures take??
This is one piece of advice that I would give to every bride. Have PLENTY of time between church and reception for pictures. I rushed from church to reception and missed my cocktail hour because I was busy taking pictures. It was about an hour and a half for pics for me. We didn't go anywhere special to take pics either...another mistake on my part.

Depends on the size of the BP. OUr pics total only took around an hour, but it was a smallish wedding

Re: How long did your pictures take??
We got married at our hall and saw each other beforehand to take pics - it was really the best decision because we got SO many great pictures at different locations and I know we wouldn't have been able to do that otherwise. I think we started pictures at around 2-2:30 with us and the bridal party and our parents/families showed up at around 5:30 for family pictures. Good luck!!

Re: How long did your pictures take??
Lets see...
He started at 8:30 with his family and BP. I came around 9:30 for pics with my family & BP. I think we went right up until the ceremony start time about 11am. THEN as soon as ceremony time ended back to pics. We got an hour & half CH because we wanted to enjoy it, but we didn't make it. Honestly...we really didn't care. It was more important to us to get all the shots. So during CH we did our together shots with family & BP.
If you want a lot of pics and good shots...at least 3 hours.

Re: How long did your pictures take??
We were on a time limit because we went to do our pictures at OWG so it was 1.5hrs time limit there. Then we did about another hour of pictures at the hall. We had a large BP, (19 including the kids and me & DH) and I felt totally rushed for pics. I would give myself 3 hrs minimum with a large BP, but you can probably get by with 2.5 hrs with a smaller BP.

Re: How long did your pictures take??
wow. i am glad i read this thread! 3 hours, huh. my photographer said its usually 1 1/2 hour and to give ourselves a 1/2 hour between pics and ceremony (we are getting married at the hall, doing pics before at the hall). we probably will need a lot of time, now that i think about it. good question! ~lacey

Re: How long did your pictures take??
great info! thanks everyone!
i had budgeted about 1 & 1/2 hours for the photo spot, and about 30-45 min at the hall, if i get married at the church. and i'd still have some time to relax in the bridal suite and make an appearance at cocktail hour. but that's assuming that my church will be flexible and allow me to move up the ceremony time by 30 min....if not, i'd have to get married at the RH.
for those of you whose pics took 3 hours....was it mostly because of large BP's?
