I am just having a ceremony and not a mass. We are also not doing a unity candle or lining up to say thanks at the end (I forgot the technical name for that). It starts at 5:30 and would love for it to be ASAP. Anyone know the average length for just a ceremony?

If your ceremony is at the RH then it depends on your officiant. Mine will be 15 minutes. I just attended a wedding last weekend and timed the ceremony...8 minutes and it was beautiful, they said their own vows and did the mixing of the sand.
I wasn't sure about the short ceremony -- 15 or longer one 25 minutes. My FH and I were in disagreement. After seeing the wedding this past weekend, I agree, it can be too long for people to sit through, 15 minutes is more than enough.
I went to one mass ceremony, I am not catholic, I would have to say if I was ever invited to another, I'd have to pass. Everyone I have spoken to regarding lenght of ceremony said, remember your guests, you can accomplish the same thing in a shorter ceremony as you will in a longer.

Most ceremonies I have been to last 15-30 minutes.

I'd say it's closer to the 30 minute mark for just a ceremony, although I've been to some churches where they got it down to 15 minutes for just a ceremony. I guess it depends on your priest and what you and he/she decide to do.

We are having a ceremony. We were told 47 min for that and 57 for the mass. We are doing a unity candle and the reception line...so maybe bank on 35-40 min?

my reception hall told me that 30 min. would be the max amt of time for any ceremony
but i just went to a wedding yesterday and it was approximately 25 min. and it was beautiful~ the bridesmaid entered to Canon in D and then the Bride entered to Here Comes the Bride~
