how long does it take for a wedding gown to come in

so I was getting my nails done and the lady before me was finishingup so the 3 of us wwere taking while I was waiting. turns out her daughter is getting married. she was telling me that they told her at rk bridal 11 months. I always thought it was 8 months. so I thought I had plenty of time.
what has your experience been?

I guess I should start looking after the holidays..... I'm so indecisive!! Ihave one dress in mind but I'm gonna love everything that looks good at least! my bridesmaid dress. shipping experience this odd
past weekend was so hard we loved just about everything!

I think it depends a lot on the store and the designer. We started looking 10 months out, but after I ordered the Shop told me it should only take about 6 months to come it. We shall see...

I was told 3 mos but It actually arrived in 3 weeks. It all depends on the store.

I know then they gave me 5 days to pick it up!! I was like what!! I cant get there lol.. You told me 3 mos!! haha anyway the dress is now sitting in my moms closet in a bag waiting for January to go back to the store for alterations..

I ordered mine from Bridal Reflections in mid-July and its scheduled to come in between Thanksgiving and December (so I guess about 5 months). According to the store, Ines di Santo takes longer than most to come in, so I guess others may not take so long...

the lady told me yesterday that she was told designers out of the us are only allowed to ship a certain number of dresses a week? so idk I wanted to check everyone else's experiences! thanks ladies

I was also told 8-10 months, it came in 2 weeks... I think it's very uncommon to come so quickly though.

The reason there is so much variation in how long it takes a wedding dress to come in is that the manufacturers wait until they have a certain number of a specific dress style to make them. (It's more cost effective for them then cutting only one of a specific dress style at a time.) So, if you are the first dress of an order you will wait longer. If you happen to be the last dress that is needed to fill the quota of making them, then you will get your dress much faster (i.e. 3 weeks).

My dress came in 8 weeks before my wedding, but that is because the store I bought it from orders them that way specifically. It minimizes storage and any potential damage issues. Worked out phenomenal for me
