I think it depends on traffic. My brother once did it in 3 1/2 hours from Deer Park, but then my parents took 5 1/2 from Brentwood (not that much farther away)

We just came back from Mass two weeks ago. We ventured into Boston one night. I think it will really depend on the time you leave. Our trip home was about 6 1/2 hours while getting there was about 4 1/2.
Oh, forgot to mention we took the ferry in Port Jeff into CT to get there so the wait time for the boat added to our trip

I just found out last night that two of FH's family will be driving in for my shower from boston. I feel bad beacsue they are elderly and they plan to drive in AND back the same day. As much as I'd like to see them, I really hope they decide not to take the trip.

Where are you going from? I lived in Boston for a long time and i've made it from SMithtown to Boston, driving the entire way through Conn. in less than four hours, but that was a fluke. I would say five hours. BUT I would HIGHLY recommend taking the orient point ferry to Connecticutt. Driving through Conn. is PURE HELL! You will save yourself EXTREME AGGRAVATION by doing this!

That would be a tough drive to do here & back in one day. My sister lives 20 minutes north of Boston and it usually takes me 4.5 hours from Massapequa. They can't stay over?

yeah, that's too much driving for one day.

I think it took me 6-7 from Stony Brook-I took the Orient Point Ferry one time and the Port Jeff Ferry a couple of times.

My SIL did this for my shower but probably not the best idea for elderly ladies ... if they really want to, I would definitely have someone encourage them to do the ferry to give them breaks from driving.
