How long does the bride's hair/makeup take from start to finish?
Just got off the phone with a salon that said I should budget for 2.5 hours for JUST my hair and makeup. That seems RIDICULOUSLY long... was going to do a simple updo...
Anyone have any ideas how long it should take?

I think it depends... at your trial you should get a sense of it.
I know my hair is very complicated b/c I have Japanese straightening so she has to 'make' curls since my hair won't hold one so I know for my sister's wedding when I was a BM she had to redo my hair a few times - not from the start, just she was very particular about it looking just right so if she didn't like a piece she redid it until it looked just so. I may not go with curls though for my wedding as I saw a great style in a book at a salon yesterday.

2 1/2 hours seems reasonable to me. My hair person said to leave an hour. My makeup person said the same. That is two hours right there. So your stylist is using 1/2 as a cushion. That's a smart thing to do.

I think my hair took about 2 hours when you add up putting in the veil and final touches... I made sure to get my hair done first.
I think she game around 8 or 9 in the morning, and we didn't have to be ready until 1.

2.5 hours? I'm so screwed! Why did I think it was a good idea to get married at 11:30 in the morning?
Well, we'll see. I may be doing my own makeup, and hair could be last. I'm hoping I can get my Manhattan hairstylist to come out and do my hair and then stay as a guest, but it's way early in the morning for him, and on a Sunday, yet. He's just the best guy, though. I adore him. And he's inexpensive for Manhattan, and does an amazing job. If anyone needs a reasonably priced stylist and colorist (he does both, almost most people don't know I color my hair, it looks that natural) in Greenwich Village, send me an FM. The other guys in his salon are great, too, I always have the best time when I'm there.

i just had my hair and make up trial on Friday, and i was there for two and a half hours... make up took one hour, and my hair lady wants 1.5 for the actual day, it does seem excessive, but its because they want to make sure everything is Perfect!

mine took probably 45minutues to an hour but my hair was already washed and blown out.. maybe they are planning on washing it and blowing it out there.
