How long does unopened cosmetics last?

How long does unopened cosmetics last?

I have a friend that works for The Body Shop and that sells Avon.


She has been giving me many things that she gets on sale or for free to add to my BM goody bags.

If they are unopened can they last until October or beyond that? Some things have a plastic seal and others are not packaged that way.

The items are:
eye shadows
lipstick
lotions
body butter
perfume
lip gloss
shower gel

I don't want to give my girls things that are gooey and nasty, but I appreciate the free things. Everything helps these days!

Any advice?

I would think if they are packaged away they would be fine the other ones Im not sure. But dont ask me...I barely own any m/u

If they're packaged properly, unopened, and stored in a cool, dry place (NOT your bathroom), they should be all right... but I'd ask a make-up artist or even your friend if she knows.

Unopened and stored in a cool dry place they should all last at least a year. Most moisturizers have an exp date that's good for a year.

If they are opened that will cut their life down. Eye shadows/lipsticks last a long time. Lip glosses tend to turn faster and sometimes they even smell. If a perfume is opened after about 6 months their scents change.

Look on the bottom, I think body shop products have their exp dates on them.
