I am posting this on behalf of my sister, who is getting married in December. She ordered her dress in February (President’s Day) and the bridal place she ordered it from called this weekend to let her know that it has come in. My sister does not like that it came in so fast and is worried that something is going to go wrong. She doesn't want to go in for any fittings yet, but was told that she has to come in and pay off the balance and they will store it for her, at no charge, and she can come in closer to the wedding (in like, September) to begin her fittings. Should she be concerned? Thanks and sorry so long!

they can't ask you to pay the balance if the alterations haven't been done... I've never heard that before!!!! It's fine that it came in...I just wouldn't pay the balance yet.

they can, kleinfelds is the same way. You have to pay off the balance before they even start alterations. I didn't know that from ahead of time only when they called that my dress is in

i was surprised too and thought we pay at final fitting but they told me otherwise. Infact since they were so busy i couldnt schedule an appt for 2 weeks. Well i get a call a week before asking for the balance, i said uhmmm im coming in next week for my first fitting can't i just give it then they said once a dress is in its in contract so they need payment. UHMMMM i waited until i went for first fitting though. I said sorry but when i got the call that my dress was in I specifically asked about the balance and said to pay the balance at first fitting, and that i tried to make an appt right away but they had nothing available, and that i didnt know i would have to come in even before my fitting so not my fault.

Well, in all honesty, it did say on the bottom of the receipt that once the dress is in that the balance is due. My sister is more worried about it coming in so quickly than anything else.
