How long is a typical rehearsal dinner? 2 hours? 3 hours? Thanks!

We had a one hour cocktail hour, then a 2 hour sit-down meal, but having the room for a strict 3-hour window was a bit too tight for us - we *just* got out of there in time. If you're strictly doing a sit-down dinner, 3 hour might be fine, and 4 hours would be plenty more time than you would need.

We're having a rehearsal luncheon the day before the wedding- but it is going to be sit down (like a dinner). It is 3 hours long, but it is at the Huntington Bay Club and our guests are welcome to go out to the beach and have drinks as long as they want.

Yikes. I was hoping you'd all say 2 hours. This rehearsal dinner is more difficult to figure out than our reception!

well if you do a buffet and tell them to have it ready when you get there - you can def do a 2 hour dinner. thats what I'm hoping to do.

Ours was about 2 hours, but it had to be since we did it before the rehearsal. Our rehearsal was at 8:30 PM on a weeknight and we really didn't think people would want to have dinner afterwards & then have to go to work the next day. It was only about 14 ppl, on a Thursday night, so we didn't really have trouble getting out on time. I think having it before the rehearsal saved us a lot on the bar bill too.
