2 1/2 years! We both work crazy hours and wanted to enjoy the planning while saving up for a house. You wouldn't believe the comments some people make when they hear how long we're waiting! Anyone else with long engagements get that?
We get comments all the time! But like you said, we are working like crazy, saving for a house (we want that first) & then paying for this wedding ourselves...It is a lot to do....

LeeMarie...I know exactly how you feel. We are both travelling like crazy for work and want to save money. When I tell everyone 2 more years...they look at me like there's something wrong with your relationship...why are you taking so long?! I'm so glad for this post because I know we have a normal relationship and are understanding of each other's priorities. I am so tired of those comments too!

Capgrl..Exactly!! Those looks are just going to drive me INSANE! In the end it's really about you and your FH, nothing more. I'm starting to see that as long as you and FH are happy and know what you're doing is right for you, then who the heck cares if it's 2 years or 2 months? Guess we'll just have to deal with the looks! By the way, too funny, we were both engaged on the same day, and we're both getting married on the same day!!

We are having a 2 1/2 year engagement as well, and it is shocking how rude some people can be. I even had a friend flat out say 'I don't believe in long engagements, if you know he's the one, why wait?' But (although it seems too long to me sometimes too), I am glad we are enjoying the planning, rather than being stressed about work and the wedding.
