Graduate Record Exam - its the exam to take for entry into certain graduate school programs
FH is an engineer and is going for a masters so he had to take it

Maybe 3 hours depending upon how fast you do it and if you take a break in between sections or not- now that they are computerized it's up to you whether you take all the time or not. I know my GMAT took about that long.. i actually started late!
