to go and look for your dress? I though a year would be good and now some of my family members are saying that its too soon......
and for the BM's dresses, how much before the wedding are you getting those?

A year is good for the wedding dresses because there's no guarantee you'll find one you love very easily and many dresses take 6 months or more to come in. I've heard of some taking 9 months then you also have to factor in alterations too. I just went and picked out BM dresses last week so that the girls will have enough time to work on getting the money together if that's an issue (the dress isn't expensive but still). I'd say maybe 6 months is good for BM dresses.

a year is def. not too early!! It takes most gowns 8 months to come in!!! So you want to be able try on gowns at your leisure and not feel pressured due to deadlines...
Look as early as you want! And as for bm gowns, i'd say 6 months ahead is a good number!
