How long to get your gown?

For those brides who have already ordered and received their gowns, how long did it take? What about the bridesmaids dresses? Thanks, ladies.

Re: How long to get your gown?

It took about 7-8 months for mine to come in, and about 5 months for the BMs gowns.

Re: How long to get your gown?

Here's my dilemma. I'm getting married May 31, 2003. The designer I absolutely love is having another trunk show on October 26th and will be showcasing 15 new gowns for Spring. If I wait, that will leave only 6 months for the gown to come in and one month for fittings. The bridalshop has said it shouldn't be a problem (That's a shock! ) Would you wait?

Re: How long to get your gown?

Got mine in only 2 1/2 WEEKS!
I don't think this is normal though.

I would wait , six months should be enough time. If you trust your bridal shop.
Good luck!

Re: How long to get your gown?

I think if they rushed the order, 6 months would be fine. When you think about it, 7-8 months is insane! I think often the shops don't place the order right away, or the manufacturer takes their sweet time!
Just make sure they're aware of your date and keep following up with them.

Re: How long to get your gown?

My dress came in in 5 months although my bridal shop said at least 6-9 months (because my dress is a couture dress from a designer in Australia). I also had a customization done to the dress. I know people who got their dress in even less time. I think 6 months is about average and if you are comfortable your shop then you should be fine.

My bridesmaid dresses came in between 1-2 months ( I ordered 4 different dresses so they all came in at different times).

The only thing is if you are unique in size. My friend's fiance is over 6 feet tall and she was only having a 5 month engagement. Well her dress came in plenty of time but the dress wasn't long enough (the mfg messed up and didn't add the extra length). The replacement dress did not get there in time. Thank goddness manged to salvage the too short dress and make it workable although not perfect.
