We just got possesion of our house on Monday and have been crazy painting so we can move in... but it still dosnt feel like home yet... pribably because none of our stuff is in there... but it made me think, once you moved how long did it take for you to feel truly settled in to your new home??

We felt at home and settled in right away!!! Our stuff was there before we even took posession of the house so it was a little different for us. I think you will feel settled once your stuff is there and unpacked.

Once your stuff is there, and you're sleeping and awaking in this house, it will feel like yours. Good luck!
Plus, a sit-down meal in the house doesn't hurt - I think it has some subconscious effect on making it a home!

It took me a while before I felt completely settled and like I was home. I think about a month-6 weeks. SOmething like that.

We have been in the house two months and it is starting to feel like home but we are still in the process of so many projects.

I think it takes awhile until it truly feels like YOUR home! We have been in our house for about 14 months and I really didnt fell 100% comfortable in the house until about 8 months! Until then there were still rooms done in the previous owners colors (which I didnt like) so once we redid all hte major living spaces with paint and new furniture it started getting there! But I think it wasnt until 8 months that I became comfortable with every unique sound our house makes! So I didnt go investigate everythign. And at 8 months I felt comfortable staying alone for a night if necessary! Plus I grew up with a dog and we didnt get our dog until we were in about 6 months so to me a house isnt complete without one!
Now I LOVE my house!

i was there alone today painting and kept getting freaked by all the different sounds... so much to get used to!

we closed at the end of June....granted we're still working on it and not living there yet, so I guess when we finally move in it will feel good, I hope.
So much work to do.

Once we got the boxes out of the kitchen, the house got painted, new carpet put in....but really not until the furniture was in the living room and we got a kitchen table - each day its getting better though - I kept opening the cabinets once the dishes and pots were inside just to show myself that it was starting to look like a house.

We took possession of our house on Thursday & slept there this past weekend...FH & I both felt like we were in a hotel! We slept on an air mattress in the living room & it was just so weird. Even coming & going with some boxes, it felt like I should ring the bell! I think it is going to take me sometime to get use to it all!

We closed last Monday, moved a few things and cleaned on Tuesday and Wednesday, moved officially on Thursday.
It felt like home as soon as all of our stuff was there, even in the boxes.
We are now about 75% unpacked and it feels so comfortable and we are so happy.
