How many guests should we invite, if we want to end up with 160 at the wedding?

Invite about 180-185. You always have to assume that 20% won't make it

A lot of it is going to depend on how many of your guests are OOT. They tend to have a much higher decline rate.

don't always go by that 20% rule. a friend of mine figured the same thing--and out of 200 guests (she figured she'd get 175-180)..only 2 ppl said no! another friend of mine totally over invited, assuming she'd get at least 20-25% sayin no....well like 35% said no and she wound up not making her minimum and had to pay for 20 dinners at about $200 a plate!

guest lists get so tricky sometimes!

I would multiply the minimum by 1.35 just to be safe. You can have a 35% decline rate and still make your min. If your decline rate is lower, you'll have a few extra guests!
