How many dish sets are you registering for?

I was told to register for a fine china set, a casual china set and an everyday set. Is this too much?

I am not registering for any I don't have too many people that will be attending the shower, and the rest just bring cash gifts to the wedding... So, we registered for other things...

I am getting my grandmother's china, so I just registered for a few accent pcs and will eventually register for everyday dishes

I agree every day and casual are the same. I registered for 12 PS of formal and 12PS of ED.

Re: How many dish sets are you registering for?

I'm going to be keeping a kosher kitchen, so I had to do 2 sets no matter what.
Originially, I did a dairy everyday set and a meat set that was slightly nicer (could pass for fine to the naked eye, but certainly wasn't fine china). I didn't want to do fine china b/c I was worried that we'll get 2 pc's of everything and that would be a big mess. Plus, where would I put 3x12 settings!!! But, FH says 'you never want to do the things all brides want to do.' He basically begged me to do fine china (I know, it's weird for a guy) because I'm making him do things so differently from what everyone (AKA his family) thinks should be done. So, I picked a reasonable priced fine china set and put it on the registry, but at Bed Bath and Beyond, where I know I can get cash back if I change my mind or only get a couple of pcs!

Just register for what you need... I'm not registering for china because I don't want it! I'm just very against getting stuff because you are 'supposed to.' So, if you don't think it's too much, and you want or need all three sets, then go ahead, order!! And if you think it's too much, and you don't want to, then don't!

I dont think that you need both casual and everyday. I don't really know what the difference would be. I registered for three sets, but that's b/c we're kosher and needed two everyday sets - one for meat and one for dairy. Our fine china is just for meat. It turned out that a friend of DH's dad gave us china service for 4 that belonged to his late wife and was never used, so now we have 4 sets!

I orignally registered for 8 casual and 12 formal. I may change the evryday to 12 and the formal to 16 because I have a big family and I like to entertain! My cousin registered for 20 place settings!

I registered for China and everyday.

I've been married for two years and have used my china three times.

I obviously use my 'every day' every day...

I think three times is a lot!! This whole china thing is so dumb to me but everyone tells me you'll use it later. Unfortunately, we have to store it now

Oh - I registered for an everyday set and a formal china set.

I registered for 8 settings of everyday dishes (came in sets of 16 — 4 setting in each box) and I bought myself china for 12. Some may consider it casual china because it wasn't too expensive, but it looks just like any other expensive china. I bought the Mikasa Platinum (white plates with the silver trim)
