How many florists did you visit before chosing one??

In the next few weeks, I have appointments with: Spitz and Peck Burtons Pedestals Flowers by Brian James Cress Is this too much? I'm not sure if I should keep all the appointments, but I want to have comparisions, mainly of price, selection, service. My wedding is at the Watermill, their house vendor is Cress, with a 10% discount, but I read that they are pricey. I did a search on this board, and saw reviews about all of them, but still can't decide which to narrow down to.

I saw 4

James Cress (was totally put off by Mr. Cress) and they were much more $$ Flowers by RoseMarie - cheap but nothing special Burtons - good deal Flower Michele - my final choice. I put together my a spreadsheet with a comparison of all 4. Ultimately, I felt most comfortable and confident with John from Flower Michele.

I saw 4

I met with Flowers by Brian. They did not stop harrassing me until I moved and my phone got disconnected!! They left me a message once a week asking if I'd like to come in a see a sample centerpiece. They were way too expensive ($200 for a vase of fresh cut flowers for the placecard table). I have heard good things about Burtons, mixed reviews about James Cress and I haven't heard anything about the others. I don't think there is anything wrong with seeing a bunch of florists. You will, most likely, get more ideas and a better deal that way. Good luck -

Flowers by Brian...

gave us such a good feeling when we met with them, that we didn`t look anywhere else. They were the first and only place we called and visited. Price-wise, I don`t really know for sure how they compare, but it doesn`t bother me, because they did such a sensational job for our wedding and the flowers looked so amazing, that I truly feel they were worthy everything we spent.

We are using Pedestals

The person we met with was great and offered a lot of suggestions. I know you want to narrow your list down, but I think you should give Pedestals a try. Let me make a note that I thought they were a little expensive, but for what we wanted (high centerpieces) I don't know if we could have found anything cheaper.

Brit03 - there are other good florists

I know you're a big fan of Burtons (you mention that ALL the time), but there are other good florists. I'll tell you why I didn't use them. I preferred the high centerpiece that Flowers Michele had over Burtons. Also, John was wonderful to deal with - he made it seem like he was interested in my wedding rather than just my money. Mike was average - he didn't offer any suggestions and didn't overwhelm me with his creativity. Yes they have good prices and they have done beautiful work, but believe it or not, there are reasons why not to use them. Sorry for venting, but its all you talk about!

Annie02- We just looked at pedestals last night....

and loved them. They were the first place we looked at, and were not ready to make a decision. I was just wondering where else you looked and why you chose them over anything else. thank you! Kelly

Florists (Long)

Nina- where is the location of your wedding? I only had a choice of 2 florists, so I only looked at 2. But, you should look at Florists that are familar with your reception location. You will find that very helpful. Then the florist will know what works, what doesn't and you can see their work at your location before you decide. Also, it is helpful to have an idea of what you want before you meet with a florist. Don't concentrate so much on color, it's more important to know how much flowers you want. There is a big difference in price between high and low centerpieces. We looked at Stefan's and Dalsimer. Both are excellent but we went with Dalsimer because they have done other affairs in my family and they were fabulous. Good Luck.

To tell you the truth, Pedestals was the only florist we went to. Our reception hall recommended them to us and one of my fiance's co-workers used them and had good things to say. That was enough for us - we told them what we wanted and they were helpful with ideas and everything and they did not cost any more than we were expecting to spend. They do a lot of work at our hall (Crest Hollow) so we know everything will be set-up the way we want.

Florists (Long)

The Watermill recommends Cress and Spitz & Peck, which I heard are both pricey. I understand about using vendors (including DJs, photographers) that are familiar w/ the place, but if they are too expensive, I cannot use them. Also, my list of what I need is pretty simple (no bridal party): -centerpieces for 6 tables (vases w/ 1 dz flowers w/filler in season) -1/2 dz calla lillies for my boquet tied w/ a bow, -flower girls petals, -2 fathers, -2 mothers, -dais So, I do not want to go somewhere where they will charge me an arm and a leg for these simple items.

Only 1 - Murphy & Co. - us too!

We used Murphy & Co too - at our priest's recommendation. We were completely happy with them. You can see my bouquet if you go to my profile on the profiles page.

I met with two

I was all ready to book with Flowers by Brian and wanted to go to another florist for comparison. I went to Pedestals and met with Danny. After viewing both of their samples I decided to go with Pedestals. Danny is great and has a lot of great ideas and pays great attention to the details.
