I have one gown that I'm totally in love with. It's a Justina McCaffery with a fitted corset and a pick-up ball gown the train seems to never end on. I feel like a total princess in it.
I'm wondering how practical it's going to be for a 5 hour party though, so I started thinking about the slim silhouetted antique lace gowns I've seen. Would I be totally crazy to get another gown for the reception?...Especially since I've already booked my seamstress to be there the day of to do the bustle? (Well, she will be doing other things too).
How many dresses are you having?

I Justina McCaffrey dresses.... I wore one for my wedding.
I only had 1 dress. First, they are so expensive! Second, I did not even want to take it off at the end of the night... there was no way I was getting out of it during the wedding!
I can understand people wanting to have two dresses.. but that definitely wasn't for me!

Just one, I got one that was sort of sleek to begin with and I totally love. As cool as I think it is to have more than one, I also love the idea of having this one dress I will remember forever.
That being said, I am pretty clutsy and feel like I have bad luck, I have had dreams of the dress ripping, something spilling, etc. So maybe I should have a back up!

I was lucky to get a sample sale dress so I only paid about 1/3 of what it should have cost!
Did you have a ball gown style?

Im having two gowns... one will be the main dress... which will be the one i wear to the ceremony and half of the reception maggie sottero and the other one which i will wear at the second half of the reception will be a destination dress from winnie couture. I cant see myself for 5 hours+ in the same dress. I wanna be comfy atleast for a little.

I am all about this....if I had a 5k gown maybe I would feel differently, but I think a little change of costume adds a little drama. Plus I love short wedding gowns, but I can understand someone wanting to wear long. Let's face it, you will only get one chance to dress up and be a bride, if you want to rock two looks, I say go for it!

The Winnie destination dresses are amazing...even though the model looks about 14! Which one are you getting if I may ask?

That's such a good idea! The more classical look for the ceremony and then later a really amazing feather hairpiece that looks like it belongs on the runway!!

I have two dresses. I most likely will stay in my wedding gown ...which I love!!! but I got a second dress just in case. Here is my second dress....
just one....i couldnt see spending all that money on ONE dress let alone more...i mean...really how long are you going to have it on for??? 10 hrs TOPS?? if you spend 2K on a dress just say....thats 200 bucks an hour.....i couldnt think of a lot more things to do with 200 bucks an hour then another dress you will wear once....thats my opinion tho....

I don't see anything wrong with it. It's a personal preference. I'm just wearing one gown for the day whereas my girlfriend who is getting married next month has opt for 2. And, both of her dresses are gorgeous.

I only had one, granted it was a more slim line gown anyway, but I was totally comfortable all night (except for being hot during outside pictures, but it was like 95 degrees out!!) and did not want to take it off!!
