How many homes did you see before you found 'the one'??

Just curious.
We are going back out tomorrow to look and was wondering how many homes (ballpark figure) you guys looked at before you found 'the one'!?

We drove by around 15 but actually went into 8 before we put a bid into the house.

We've seen about 20 houses so far and put an offer on one but they already have an accepted offer so our's is just a back-up offer. We're seeing 3 this afternoon and 4 on Sat. The search goes on....

I would say about 20 over a period of a two years. We looked casually. But I knew when I saw the house we ended up buying that it was the one.

I know we have been looking since February. Took a month break here and there but almost every weekend looking or during lunch breaks. We actually bid on 4 houses within that year and were outbid and lost all of them. So it was a loooong process. I hope yours is much quicker! Also we were in no rush and would not settle for something we didn't love.

We put in offers on 3 different houses before ending up with the house we have now.

Same here too. We bid on three houses, and finally got one. We started in September, had a bid accepted in November, and are closing in April. We saw sooo many houses.

I think we saw about 20. We put a bid on one, about three times, another one once, we lost both house bids(thank GOD!!!!!!). Then I came across the one we bought, FSBO.

I think over 2 years we saw around 100 houses. Some stand out as more memorable than others

wow...I'm tired just thinking about possibly looking at so many... but hey, you gotta do whatcha gotta do, right!

Probably about 75 within 3 months - and we saw a lot of crap!!!!! We probably saw 3-4 that we actually considered. Then we found the one!!!!

i preview homes daily via the internet, but we have only been into about 12. i know the area really well (even narrowed it down to desired neighborhoods) and a stickler for a particular home style (as well as a few other must-haves) so eventhough it prolongs our search, it saves us a lot of wasted time.

we did make an offer on a house, but the owner decided to take it off the market. i have come to the realization that nothing is 100% perfect. there is always something that you have to be flexible on. for us, location, land and floorplan is key. we are not against buying a home that is in less than mint condition and remodeling/decorating ourselves (in fact, i think it would be fun).

the market is REALLY slow right now, but you will see a major shift in the next couple of months.
