How many hours did you book/pay your photographer?
Just wondering, we started to talk to photographers, some said they charge as much as $500 per hour over what they consider a normal day (I think 8 hours). But if a ceremony could be at church at say 3, and the reception doesn't end til midnight or later, and you want someone at the house for getting ready pics, that's a whole lot of hours!!
So I'm wondering, do/did you have the photog stay til the very end of the reception? Both photogs stayed if you had 2? And did you need 2 at the getting ready pics?
Do all photog's charge this way, like overtime?
I know that's a few different questions, TIA for any suggestions!

I had mine for 10-- if I wanted more, it would be overtime.. If I recall correctly, it was like $175/hour per team-- I had two teams.

This is a great question. We actually just finalized with a photographer...they faxed over a contract and I was about to sign it when I noticed in the small print....'Anything over 8 hours is considered overtime and will be billed...' Well my contract states that the photographer(s) will be at my house at 11:30am and the cocktail hour starts at 6:30pm so that's already 7-hours!!! We left a message for the photographer to clear this up before we sign...SO make sure you read your contracts fully.
I'm not sure what the norm is but I definitely think 8-hours is not enough.

Mine is coming at 2pm, and the reception is over at midnight....I think this is fairly normal.

10:30 am through 5pm. So it's about 6.5 hours. That includes getting ready prior to wedding at 12:30pm until reception is over at 5pm.

We havde ours for the entire day. like 11:30 am to 11:30 PM.

Typically, the photog leaves after you cut the cake. The videographer stays til the end of the reception because he doesn't show up early to shoot you getting ready.
My ceremony started at 2:30 and the CH was at 6, with reception from 7-11.
My photog was booked for 9 hours, normal with their contract. He came at 1pm and left after the cake cutting at 10pm.
