we actually made an offer on the first co-op we saw.....but wound up not gettin git.

i would say about 5-10 before the first offer went in. thank god that offer was not accepted because we would have been in way over our heads ![]()
we made 5 offers over about 7 months of looking. in the end to get our place we bid up 20K more than we thought the place was 'worth' because the market is so nuts and we wanted to coordinate timing to get out of our apartment lease...

probably about 8 or so before we put an offer in... we made 4 offers all together... probably saw close to 20 or 30 houses...

We weren't supposed to seriously look until this fall, but I couldn't stop looking at websites and the paper despite my DH's begging me to please stop! We wound up making 2 offers before we were really ready to and then we made the 3rd at a good time and it was accepted. I guess we looked at 6 all together, but we had some very specific criteria (and a low budget![]()
) so 99.9% of homes were not for us.

YIKES - 7 months!I'm so impatient, I hope we won't be looking for that long (we're going to see our first two this weekend) although we'll be able to save more money if we do...I know, I'm so UNREALISTIC about this whole process!

we started the search in november with the idea of gathering information and on the off chance finding something off season that's a good deal...no such luck.
once the spring season kicked in, inventory picked up but so did the prices. at that time i felt more comfortable buying because i saw what was out there and educated myself a bit.
my advise is to reallllllllllly look and be patient, DH and i were so discouraged in the beginning but finally achieved a balance and wound up with something cute and hopefully manageable

We looked for 2 years! Finally we made offers on 5 houses we liked and lost them all. We hooked up with another realtor who was really listening to us and she showed us 4 houses, 3 of which we put offers on and got them. Then we had to decide. We ended up having two homes inspected and made our decision. Funny, though the house that needed the most work won our hearts. We still love it and are happy we chose it over the other.

We didn't look into apartments or condos. We really wanted a house. We started early. We put in bids for about 3 houses. We saw alot of houses. One almost went thru and then the seller backed out...BOY now when I look back we are so lucky, cause I LOVE my house now!!!!!!!![]()
