how many invites should i really send out??

ok so here is my issue now. i am not anywhere close to sending out invites of course considering my wedding is only in 2009 but i am getting ready to send out my save the dates this week and i am a little confused now.. here is the issue - in our hall we had to garantee 175 guests so thats how many guests we garanteed, with at least 25-40 people responding no how many people should i really invite in total?? we definately dont want less than 175 people and we are hoping we will get those 175 people we garanteed and even if we get a hand full more whatever its no problem, as long as we have between 175-190 i will be very happy!! =] so i am concerned about this and dont know how many people i should really consider inviting.. i was thinking maybe around 230 people?? cause like that we have lots of room for many NO's and i am assuming there will be a good amount of NO's in our case.. please let me know!! do you think 230 is too many or to little, to count on having at least between 175-190 guests saying yes!!!!!!

i posted to you on the other thread you responded to. I saw a few ppl kept saying 20-30ppl, the average of no responses is 20-30% not people. So if you invite about 230 guests then 20% is about 50 no's or even a bit over if its more like 30%

again, there is NO way to know exactly. The only thing you can do is follow the average bc for the most part alot of girls said that the whole 20-30% was true for them. It also worked out that way for me in the end. I invited 320-330 guests and had about 260-270 guests. Inviting about lets say 320 guests that meant that if i went by the 20% it would mean about 60 no's and thats about exactly how it worked out. However, I have seen some brides who invited a large amount of ppl and had very few no's and ive also seen some who had invited a small amount of guests and had ALOT of no's and that surprised them. So in the end, you just really never know how it will end up. I was SOOO afraid the whole time that i would go over my minimum which i really did not want but then the funny thing is that i ended up being just a little under. But thats also bc last minute, dh decided not to invite certain ppl which would've meant about 350 we would've invited.

The only thing as a bride you can do to figure this out is to calculate it with 20-30% saying no, but just keep in mind that anything can happen. If you look on the 08 boards and even previous years, they will say and we saw this ALL the time. They were shocked MANY times but some who responded no and couldnt believe it bc they 100% thought they would say yes, and then invites they sent out expecting them to say no ended up responding yes.

Hey Nov bride. Congrats!!

We invited 229 & the max for our room was 180. I was really stressing out because I was not sure we would be under.
We are now......we will probably be at the 150 mark.
This also happened to my date twin she over invited and many said no. SHe even ran out of invitations. So I would say go for it & make sure you order extra invites so when those no's come in you can invite a few more if you feel the need to.

Good Luck!!

I sent out STDs to close family and friends who were ABSOLUTE definates to be invited to the wedding.....a year is a long time, you never know what friends you may become distant with or co-workers that leave the job.....its like a shower invite if you send them the STD they HAVE to be invited to the wedding (etiquette wise at least)

I left out coworkers, and people who i'm friendly with but dont see on a regular basis

yeah i only ordered 200 save the dates!! and i am thinking of inviting about 230-250 people, so we can hope to have around 175-190 guests saying yes.. so that half wont get save the dates i guess!!
