How many months before the wedding..

How many months before.....

1. should you shop for BM dresses?

2. should you send out STD's? I wanted to send them out at the end of July, which would be 10 months. Too far in advance?

3. should you do a food/cake tasting? I am wayyyyyy too excited for this, but I don't want to call the RH and sound too eager lol

4. should you pick out tuxes? this one I have no clue about

I don't want to do things too soon and seem to eager hahah so I figured I'd ask you all!

1) I would say about 8 months out just to be safe. For my friends wedding we went 6 months before, the dresses came in a month before the wedding but they mixed up some sizing and it was too late to do anything about it. My seamstress had to basically recreate my whole dress.

2) They say 6-8 months. I'm probably doing 8.

3) That I'm not sure about. I dont even know if my rh does it.

4) I'd say 2-3 months before. That isn't something that needs to be done so soon.

1. Bridesmaids Dresses: I'm buying them by the end of May. I lied about my date and said 12/28/13 (a week before) so that they'd be in on time. BR Massapequa told me I'd have to order them by the end of June to avoid rush shipping. (May will be 8 months from my wedding day)

2. STD's: I sent out STD's April 1st, which is 9 months before, because we have A LOT of out-of-state guests coming. Our families really appreciated the early heads up.

3. Food/Cake Tasting: I know some people do a food-tasting before or quickly after they book their venue. I've eaten at our venues' restaurant before and the food is amazing, so I'm not in a rush to do our tasting. I think I'll probably start asking about 5-6 months before about food & cake tastings.

4. Tuxes: I feel like this can wait, FH & I already know what we want - we just have to figure out rentals, because 5/7 of his groomsmen live in Florida & I want to find a place that's either national, or have the guys send their measurements here. Still needs to be discussed. I think you can definitely wait to do this though.

I think the only things you should rush into doing early are the big pieces - venue, photographer, videographer, or any vendors that you'd be upset if they were booked. Right now I'm 8.5 months out and I'm getting quotes for hair & make-up and ordering bridesmaids dresses. Also, I chose my invitations but haven't ordered yet.
