would think a bride isn't real if she doesn't post personal info on these public forums. It seems to me that a reaccuring them (esp, w/ the NW) is that if a girl keeps her info private and doesn't post pics then she is a fraud.
I ask b/c I am a private person, and do not give out personal info on the internet for anyone to see. Just wondering if you all think that's being shady or you really don't care.
I know this is far fetched but it creeps me out....when I see pictures of children on this site with their names posted and then the locations, date, and time of the reception posted so that any creep can enter and find them and esp know their name. it could happen,. you never know. and don't get me started on the lingerie shots. anyone can cut and paste and photo-shop. what are people thinking?
feel free to disagree... I'm just curious if others are confortable or not sharing.

I notice A LOT of B2Bs on here that don't post a pic, don't have a personal pic as their avatar (if any avatar at all) and their wedding details are just initials for names and 'booked!' for their vendors. I don't think anyone is labeled a 'fake bride' (or in the NW incident, a real bride with suspect stories) based only on the limited info they provide - it's usually based on the things they say and the way they 'behave'.

Not for nothing, but, if someone wanted to assume my life...how pathetic are they? They need to get off of their computer and get a life of their own because mine isn't that glamorous.

No, I don't necessarily assume that a bride is fake if she doesn't post any pics or personal info. Some people are private, and I get that.
At the same time, I don't think we have anything to worry about if we do choose to share pics or private info. The chance of someone stalking you from a wedding website is pretty far fetched. Is it a possibility, absolutely, but I don't worry about that sort of thing.

Re: ? How many of you ...
Since you are fairly new to these boards, you do not have the experience as we have had with vendors posing as fake brides. It causes a lot of commotion and a lot of stress. There has also been a bride that posted as another bride to stir controversy between the two. A split personality if you will that caused a lot of trouble.
It is your perogative whether or not to post details or pictures As you are on a public forum, you will have to get used to differences of opinions that are not necessarily your own.
As for the OP you were referring to, it was not so much as the lack of response of the poster, but the way she introduced herself to these forums. It put up our EAL radar.

Even more so now as there is another B2B getting married the same day at the same place and b!tching about an issue with the RH.
Edited for accuracy.

Exactly! I think its really silly that some people in here actually get mad if they think some one is fake! Worry about yourself and apparently you have way too much time on your hands!
Im not putting all my info and pics up here because im not askiong your opinion about how i look im asking your opinion on what i should do about my wedding!!!!

Re: ? How many of you ...
it really doesnt bother me or worry me much at all....people can also get my pictures off of myspace and put my face on a naked body if they really wanted too (and im not talking about getting photos from my personal myspace page - there are friends of mine who have photos of me posted) and im even on a photographers website as part of her portfolio - so there are pictures of me floating around the internet and not just on LIW. i have bpics posted and im not ashamed of myself or my body - to me its not a big deal - of course there are many others that are for my and my FH's eyes only but the ones i have posted are not a big deal to me and im not worried about who might see them - also im glad that my pictures inspired other girls to do them - i got so many FMs asking questions about it and so many people have done them since - that makes me feel good - so for me its been worth it to post...i dont think people who dont post pictures are fake brides - thats their choice - and as we know people can post their real photos and still be a nut or fake bride!

i agree. I dont necessarily think a new bride with no info is fake. I go by what the person posts and sometimes yes new ppl with no info will write suspicious things but otherwise if they dont say or do anything that previous fake brides have done then i dont think they are fake.
As far as pics and all that. I dont want to live my life in hiding, i am an open person. I mean its funny bc ppl are afraid on here but meanwhile have TONS of pics on myspace which is worst than having it on here and yes even on myspace i have lots of pics. I dont post my last name and do keep certain things private. If ppl choose to be private then that is their choice and should do that, but dont think someone should be judged just because they are doing things differently than you are the same way you dont like for ppl to think youre a fake bride bc you are private and dont do as others are doing by putting up pics

my favorite thing about this site is looking at other peoples photos - their dress, their doj, their hair and make up trials, their bridesmaid dress, their centerpiece samples, their invites, i could go on and on - but that is why i come on - to get ideas, get inspiration and to chat - i dont think people who dont post photos and their info are fake or shady - but i do enjoy chatting more with people who share back

SERIOUSLY!
you have NO IDEA how many times 'fake' posters have come on these boards and caused MUCH MUCH drama -- as well as VENDORs posting as brides to either a)promote their business for free or b)find out dirt as to why people don't book them or even post negative stuff about OTHER vendors.
i see a lot of low posts in some of the responders to this thread who are saying 'oh that's just pathetic and losers' to think that people are fake or something.......but wait until you've been around here for awhile. You'll see the crazy BIG TIME
and trust me when i tell you....the poster one of you was referring to and posted on the thread on NW--if you had been here and seen the whole thing from the beginning--you'd have been thinking the same thing too. (seriously---who steals pics from OTHER SITES and claims that they were taken on their 'honeymoon'?)
ETA: i stand corrected it was her dubai vacation pics that were in question-- not the HM--my bad.

Exactly!
So before you go blaming the NWs for this reaction, you should take a look at ALL the facts .... and realize that many of the B2Bs felt and thought the same thing (that something *could* have been suspicious in this particular situation).

Re: ? How many of you ...
I’m going to be redundant and agree with the other ladies. I am a pretty private person and I try not to post too much info of myself on the board. (even though now that I think about it I have a myspace page with pics) I am pretty lazy when it comes to uploading photos so that is why I have none here. But I wouldn’t judge a bride necessarily based on their profile and I would just make sure to keep info that I wouldn’t want anyone to know to myself. What I do watch out for is girls who ask ridiculous questions that clearly show they are just hear to be nosey. I personally use this site as a great tool to help me plan my wedding. If I happen to befriend a few ladies then so be it but it’s not my main goal. I feel the majority of the ladies here a truly genuine and go above and beyond to be helpful. I can’t be bothered with fake people who have nothing else to do with their time but I’m also not going to rack my brain trying to figure out who is who. I have a wedding to plan and if someone wants to be childish and stir up nonsense I will not appease them by retaliating. It’s a waste of time to go back and forth with childish people especially on the internet.
Bottom line if they seem shady-Stay away!

Re: ? How many of you ...
well I'm certainly glad to see so many people that don't judge others based on their photos ect. I got the impression from some posters that they needed to know someones 'life story' to trust them. I just don't trust cyberspace, and didn't want to be accused of being a fraud. I don't have a myspace page and never will. for those that have one.. more power to you! I do love to look at the brides beautiful pictures or ideas. I think they're great for sharing.
I'll share a story of why the world is a creepy place.. at my job a while back some creep called the main # and asked to speak to someone in sales. The receptionist gave him my name, and put thru the call, and I had some creepo on the phone pretending to know me... telling me my friend hired him to bring me lunch. Of course I caught on right away and told him off.. but it just goes to show you how a little bit of info can lead to a problem. what if he showed up at the building and someone 'pointed me out' to him?
I just find it peculiar that people post their first and new last names... occupations (that are trackable ie. ups driver ect).

I started off a lot more private than I am now ... I have our names up, our vendors, and I posted pictures of me/FH for about 15 minutes one day. I have lots of pictures up on facebook (with my full name, law school, etc) but you have more control over who can see your facebook profile. I like to believe I have a little anonymity on here but I dont know
I don't have pictures of my dress up because I'd like that to be a surprise, and don't know who is lurking. I don't mind posting it after the big day.
I definitely don't judge people for not having info and pix up.
