I used to like her when we started dating but we have drifted....
Since we met I have gained about 50 pounds. I lose it and then put it back on. About two years ago, I lost all the weight and was back to a size 6. I lost it because my grandmother passed away and I was so depressed. Well of course, I gained it all back and we went to his family barbeque where she made a rude comment about me to FH brother's girlfriend. When she told me what she said i couldn't keep my mouth shut and started a big fight at the party. Needless to say we haven't spoken since. when we got engaged she did not even call to congratulate us and told FH that she will not attend the wedding. I am not upset about it but FH is. He wants me to apologize. ABSOLUTELY NOT!! I was not the one who started. I am very thick headed.
What kind of a mother are you to not go to your sons wedding????

me & my FMIL get along great. she does so much for me. we even just started working together.
FFIL is the best. he passed away in 2007 so i knew him 7 years & i am happy that i have that. we weren't even engaged when we was alive and he used to call me his daughter.
as for your situation i think that just so you can start your married life off on the right foot you should talk to her about it. i'm not saying apologize just talk to her about it. my brother & his MIL & FIL don't get along at all and now that he has 3 kids its really a bad situation because it puts the kids in the middle.

I do get along very well with his mother...she calls me the daughter that she never had. However I believe that walking into a marriage with that situation is a recipe for disaster. I would talk to her and attempt to iron things out, especially being that you fh is upset about his mother not being in attendance at the wedding.

FMIL and I get along fine right now, she's in FL and my interaction with her is minimal... but she seems really open to me and really excited about the wedding. I even get along with FFIL, but I wish he was a different type of person.
I hate confrontation, so I'd apologize to make the peace... I'm a sissy that way.

My FMIL and I get along really well; she is really sweet and does a lot for me & a lot for all of us. Of course I'm sure we'll have moments at some point that we aggrivate each other, but we have a lot in common with a lot of different things so we sort of clicked right away. My past relationship, my ex's mom was a horror, so I really realize how lucky I am to have such a nice woman becoming my FMIL and not the nut that could have been. I definitely thank my lucky stars!

I am soo sorry you are dealing with this :( it happens sometimes but you'll see everything well get better I'm pretty sure she will attend the wedding!!!...on the other hand i do get along with my MIL and i thank god for that because i know sometimes is hard to bond with them. She's really nice with me...

I get along with my MIL, There are times the family does say things that are inappropriate I just say to myself I'm only here for the next three hours so relax and stay quiet!!

I am sooo sorry to hear that, Its very unfortunate she's like that, Hopefully she gains her senses and starts acting nicer.

Was PETRIFIED to meet my FMIL. Her and FH's ex HATED each other and FH actually stopped talking to his mother for almost 5 years because of it. It was a really bad situation and I didn't want that to be the case with me in the picture. We actually get along really well and is constantly telling everyone how much me loves me and how happy she is that her son found me. It's a really nice relationship. Plus, she lives in CT so when we see her it's a big deal.

I 'Get along' with my mother in law but it is sometimes hard. I just deal with the comments she makes and smile. She is very conservative and has her face in a bible around the clock. My mom was a hippie and is 100% different from her. Belive me I bit my tounge everyday... She wanted us to get married before we finished college because she thought we were going to engage in pre-martial sex and burn in hell for it. My moms attitude is more like 'don't forget a pill, I don't want to be a grandmother yet!'
My advice is to suck it up and tell her what she wants to hear. I always comment on how well our 5 years of 'abstinence' is going You don't have to live with her or marry her so who really cares in the end.

Im sorry your going through a tuff time with your MIL. I was in a similar situation with an ex, but my soon to be MIL is one of my best friends. We are very very close and I am very blessed. I hope that in the future your relationship improves.

I get along with her the majority of the time. Everyone has their differences sometimes though. We are very similar in some ways, yet very different in some also.
If i were you, I would just cover your ears and apologize...i know, on principle, she was wrong, but its obvious that shes stubborn and wont apologize. It's best to keep the peace, especially before you commit to this guy for the rest of your life.

FMIL and I get along fabulously, I swear his entire family would take my side in an argument before they took his lol.
I love them all dearly and his family and I really get along, I really lucked out with them
