how many of you homeowners are calling up favors from all your talented friends??

we have never needed such tasks befor ebut now we have all these friends (mainly dh's!) coming over to help us and teach us how to install things, fix things, put down floors, etc) - i think owning a house has definitely yet again taught us how great our friends are !

Deirdre, unless your DH is very handy or a contractor, I think that it is completely normal

This is our list so far:

DH's cousin- does hardwood floors
Our Best Man is an electrician
My Step-father is a carpet mechanic
My Father is a painter/ wallpaper hanger and can do general carpentery
My Step-Uncle is a plumber

So far all but my step- uncle have been here. Thank God for them all!!!

I haven't really asked for any favors from friends - I feel bad doing that. A couple offered but we just don't ask. We have no talent for repairs but we are trying to do it ourselves or paying the hard way...We do ask our friends (most of which are new homeowners as well) for advice...

My brother has helped a lot with some repairs and electrical stuff and my dad with my alarm and a few other things. When we first moved in our moms helped with some of the initial cleaning and our dads helped with a little bit of the painting. Our parents really wanted to help in the beginning but we felt bad asking for their help as well.

We are not homeowners yet, but our friend is a union electrician... he's gonna come in REAL handy wherever we end up.

One of DH's uncles owns a flooring and carpet place... so that will be help.

Another friend is a HVAC tech.

We just need to befriend a plumber, and painter and we'll be all set.
