how many people got lingerie at their shower

I was at a shower this weekend at a bar/restaurant, and all of the men in the bar area turned their stools to watch the bride open her gifts - you can only imagine the hoots when she opened up the lingerie!!! I was so embarrassed for her!

I don't mind, as long as we're in a private area.

Well if they know any of this would make you uncomfortable then they probably wont do it, or they might do it just because of that...I guess figure out what your friends would do in this situation.

Well, she should have known what she said to my FI would make both of us uncomfortable, too... I'm going to feel her out and mention something in passing (or phrase it as a joke) so she understands she can't put sex toys in the wishing well or something like that.

Thats a good idea to talk to her... .I actually had two showers, one here, and one upstate where DH is from. I didn't know that my SIL was so into that kind of stuff... but for the shower up there- where I didn't know anyone except for SIL and MIL, she wraps up this big box and I have to go in number order... the things started out innocently enough, wine glasses, a cd, etc... but as I kept going the things started getting worse - a sex game, body chocolate, a feather 'tickler,' lingerie for BOTH of us, and condoms. I wanted to DIE I was so embarassed. I kept the things in the box and didn't even take them out to show anyone. I must have been red as a tomato. DH was there with my and I passed it off to him.

When I wrote my eariler comment, I totally forgot about this shower, I was only thinking of my 'real' one here....

I got some-mostly from my MOM-who bought me so many and undies and bras to match-I didn't open them all though-

and some other people did too-

I wasn't embarrassed though...I didn't mind, but I wouldnt worry too much about blushing- it happens...

I didn't get any lingerie. I would've been embarrased if I did but, I didn't mention anything beforehand to anyone about it. I got mainly registry and other household items.

I got a giftcard from my cousin's GF to Victoria's Secret though which obviously isn't embarrasing.

That might be my worst nightmare.

I'm just glad that (1) I'm not alone in feeling this way and (2) we can all laugh about it.

I have a lingerie shower coming up for a friend and I am actually uncomfortable picking something out!! What if I pick something too racy or to prude? AGHH!!!

I'm just curious how many people got lingerie at their shower... To be honest, I really, REALLY don't want to receive any at my shower. That's just something really personal to me and I'd only ever wear lingerie FH or I picked out. Call me old fashioned, but I'm not going to wear something for FH that someone else picked out and I just showed to my family and friends. (I know this is just my personal feelings... but it's how I feel) I am also really skeeved out by the idea of someone else buying me underwear or lingerie. Am I just crazy?

I better practice my 'I love it' face.

My FH feels the way you do about this and VERY strongly too. He's already told me that no matter what lingerie I get and no matter how much we may like it, it's getting returned anyway b/c it schieves him out that someone else bought it for me!!
My opinion - doesn't really bug me and I think it's fun!!

I got one pair of lingerie and it wasnt anything to nasty,

I dont think it will be a big concern, you'll be lucky if you get like 2 things.

i love this tradition! it gets costly so i was happy that my bms bought me lingerie!!
you can alwasy exhange it for something that is your taste..

Well I most likely will do this if I receive any.

I totally see your point though about wearing something purchased for you. Maybe if you do get some, you could return it.

OMG NO!!!!!! She is TOTALLY too religious for that!!! OMG! Now Im scared. I wouldnt know what to do or say!! I'll still cringe when my own mother talks about sex....
