Hi! We are in the midst of booking our band. What is the different from a 7 piece to an 8 piece band? Would you notice the different if a trumpet or whatever extra piece was missing? I am not musically inclined and I have no idea.
What would you recommend and/or give feedback about?

We hired an 8 piece band but DH added the trumpet player. We really like to swing dance so I think we needed the trumpet player for that type of music.

we did a 7 piece band....didn't do the trumpet, i didn't think it was necessary and it saved us money. But if your into swing, like the girl above said, it would make a difference.

we're having a 16 piece band! we're REALLY in to music and the band was really important to us - i would add the trumpet!!

The # of pieces in a band vary from band to band. For instance, in my band, the lead male vocalist also plays keyboard. That drops our number by 1. We are doing an 8 piece band, but again, it varies tremendously. We added a trumpet to our base 7 pieces.

i don't think people would necessarily think something was missing, but i think people would definitely notice the horns if there....we are adding horns because i think it's a very nice touch.

That is why were considering only have 7 pieces because the overtime + another piece = $$$$

we are having a 14 person band. We are very interested in music, so the band was quite important and i wanted as many horns as possible!

Who are you looking at? Check out Renegade, its 8 pieces and VERY reasonable!
