How many RSVP cards and how long?

How many RSVP cards and how long?

Hi Girls,

I was just wondering how many RSVPs you actually got back. Maybe a percentage? How many phone calls did you have to make? Did people who you are close to NOT rsvp b/c they thought it was obvious they were coming? Was that annoying? haha.

Did most of them come back right away or mostly toward the deadline?

Just curious.

PS ignore my wedding date- it's fake b/c I had to get a new acct when someone recognized me after a vent...

thx!

We got most of our RSVPs back either right away, or very close to or just past the RSVP deadline, with a bit of a lull in the middle. If I had to guess a percentage, I'd say about 10% never replied.

at first we got a lot of family who were obviously coming. a few people assumed we knew they were coming (co-workers) and didn't rsvp and didn't even say anything until i asked them. my rsvp date was over a week ago and i still have 5 no responses. i tried to contact them all and someone even had the nerve to say they weren't sure and would let me know during the week. well they still haven't and i'm just gonna tell them they can't come. on the rsvp date i had about 20 missing. a lot of people i thought would come aren't, some people i thought wouldn't come are, over all it's a big pain in the a$$. we invited 174, and have 118 guests. i even had a cancellation last week from one of my best friends -living in florida- due to the 'economy' yet she gave me a check for $500. i told her she could have used the money to come to the wedding. so there's a hand full of people that i'm really pi$$ed off at.

so...to answer your question and stop venting thanks...
overall i'd say we got 80% of our rsvps back, had to contact about 20 people after the rsvp date, and we got most of our rsvps towards the beginning, they got fewer and fewer as time went on.

man... sounds like it IS a huge pain in the a$$!!

I am having a lot of trouble with my shower rsvps (I'm helping out due to FH's big and confusing fam haha) and I figured the wedding would be even worse...

I really hate when people just ASSUME you know they're coming!!! People go on business trips, vacations, etc. and it's true you never know what will happen.

I hear ya about being pissed off with certain people. I wonder who I'll still have a grudge against when this is all over haha

Re: How many RSVP cards and how long?

About 5 of my dad's friends gave him a verbal yes but I told him we needed the actual card back since it was a better way to track the responses. Those 5 never sent in their cards so I had to assume they were coming. 4 of the 5 actually showed up.

Some of my DH's single guy friends also gave him a verbal yes... I don't know what it is with guys! So lazy!!

There wasn't a particular date where all our RSVPs trickled in. Some came right away, some came a few weeks later and some came right before the deadline.

I had to make about 5 phone calls. Not bad when 275 invitations went out (that's about 550 people!)

I would be so annoyed if somoene said yes and then just didn't show. Don't people know you get stuck paying for them?

I mean, I put the stinkin stamp on the cards AND addressed them haha how hard??

I gave people April 22 as their response date, but I am still waiting on 45 responses (mostly couples, some singles). We have 57 people currently coming, I just want to make sure we have the 100 minimum. I guess I still have time, though, and need to relax.

Also, two separate couples booked hotel rooms, but haven't yet RSVP'd. People are weird.

i have a feeling this whole rsvp thing is REALLY gonna annoy me. I already know who the ppl are that are gonna be a pain in the @ss about dropping the freakin response card in the mail, even though i know they are coming. Thats not the point. theres a stamp on it for a reason, its not that difficult.

sorry i have absolutely no answer about the % cuz i just sent mine out on Sat. but i needed to pre-vent about being annoyed about this in the near future!

yes well we met our minimum, which was 100. as it gets closer to the date and paying for everything, i really was like i hope less people come lol.. but yeah it is a pain and a lot of people surprised us. i would NEVER not rsvp to a wedding of all events. be strong ladies!!!

Re: How many RSVP cards and how long?

I invited 325 only expecting 250 to show and got back about 85 % of my response cards and had to call the rest. I had about 240 guest show. it was slow receiveing at the beginning then towards the end it picked up. so it seems like the closer you get to the end, the more u get back.

Do people invite friends' girlfriends/boyfriends or wives/husbands even if they've never met them before?

Re: How many RSVP cards and how long?

I did, but most of my guests are married or engaged.

I have read that some people don't invite husbands and wives that they don't know (like from work) but I would rather not invite someone at all then invite them without their hubby. I can understand not inviting EVERYONE '& guest' - esp. people who are just gonna pick some random date- but I think you have to for people in relationships. I would never go to a wedding without my FH.

I did get lucky though the '& guests' were pretty limited- about 20- and out of those 20 like 10 notoriously come alone anyway, so I'm not worried about overflow.

I did if the person was in a serious relationship. However, there were a few instances where I invited people with a guest b/c I felt it would be awkward for them to come alone, but they seem to be coming alone anyway. People probably rather not pay for a random date.
