how many sets of crib linens?

BTDT Mommies:

How many sets of crib linens do you need?

(somebody is spending the workday on BRU!)

Hmmmm....I wonder who?

I'm assuming that what you mean by linens is - sheets, mattress pads and blankets? Not the comforter, sham and bumpers, right? You should only need one set of those.

I think all you need is between 3-5 crib sheets (right now, I'm getting by just fine with 3 for Paul), and at least 2 mattress pads. Infants are too small for blankets, so you don't need to worry about those yet.

I was told to get 3-4 bassinets sheets and 3-5 crib sheets, 2 pack&play sheets and a waterproof matress pad and 2-3 of those on top of sheet pads. the recieving blankets are to wrap the baby up in and put on the baby when they are in the swing and such- people give you tons of those for gifts but I would think (correct me BTDT Moms) 4-5 is fine.

Claud- do I need 2 waterproof matress pads?

Oh, and I registered for 2 or 3 changing pad covers. So that way I always have a clean one.

Michele, when I say 2-3 mattress pads, I am speaking of the quilted oversized mattress pads - not a mattress cover (that is a different thing, and I don't even have one of those for Paul's crib). Paul's mattress is waterproof already, so I didn't think I needed a cover.

Here's a pic of what I use on Paul's crib (I use it UNDER his crib sheet):

Good call on the changing pad covers - I'd say you'd be all set with 4. I only have 3, and I've often felt 'short' on occasions when Paul isn't feeling well and is more likely to have an 'accident.'

Receiving blankets - you can easily use at least 10-12 (in my experience anyway). Sometimes, the baby will wet through their clothes and the blankie they are wrapped in becomes wet too. Other times, they might spit up.....so, you can go through quite a few in just one day. In order to save yourself from SOME of the laundry, it's good to have at least a dozen I think.

oh jeez...ok.

Somebody tell me how to set up a crib.

From dust ruffle to blanket...what is it. Bumper? (That is fabric covered right? Goes around the crib to protect baby). Mattress gets a cover? Mattress pads? Fitted sheet?

It seems VERY complex!!!

I have 3 fitted sheets, one that came with the bed set, 1 flannel and one ecru color. Lyla didn't spit up or leak from her diapers at all the first 2 months, so far this has been fine, and I wash them once a week if there's no 'mess' on the sheet. The only time she leaked was actually in OUR bed!
I also only have 2 quilted/waterproof mattress pads for under the fitted sheet. I only really use one of them. Maybe as she gets older I might be changing everything more often.

jenny, setting up the bedding is not that complicated, you'll figure it out! The skirt goes under the mattress and over the frame. I would wash everything and you may need to iron it too. I just put the comforter over the side of the crib, out of Lyla's reach just for 'show'. The bumper goes all around the inside of the crib and has ties on it, so that it stays in place.
