How many sonos do they do?

How many sonos do they do?

I had one sonogram at 8 wks but I haven't had another since. My next appointment (next week) will be my 4th and there's no sono scheduled for then either. I'm just curious how many sonograms are done throughout a pregnancy and how would the Dr. know if anything has gone wrong since my last sono which will 6 wks ago by the time I see him again?

I had a sono done at 7 weeks and I'm going to have another one finally done at 20 weeks to determine the sex hopefully!! I wished they did more so I could see the progress as well.

I had 3 with Emma. 7wks (to confirm pregnancy), 20 wks(level II) and 32 wks. I would have only had 2 but I had a low lying placenta so they wanted to make sure it moved at the 32 wk appt.

This baby Ive had 5 - 7wks (to confirm pregnancy), 10 wks (cause I asked nicely), 12 wks (Ultra Screen Test) , 18 wks (Level II), 23 wks (2nd Level II for better pics). I dont get any more.

Right now I should've had 2 but I have had 4 due to other issues. I know it is frustrating. I would love more but that is what seems to be the norm.

I've had 8 to date. (3 where done not under the circumstances we would of liked) our first dr. was not so bright and was telling us that we were not having this baby.

The other 4 were done with a new dr/&/or a refferal. One to confirm pregnancy. He sent me a few weeks later to a Radiologist to get a better glimpse (To ease our minds after what we had been thru) One at Ultrascreen exam and One at 20 week exam.

And I think he may have done one again in between (i asked to show DH's grandmother) since she had never seen one before. He did it for her.

I DO however think its the norm to just have one to confirm, one at Ultrascreen Exam and one at 20 weeks and possibly one towards the end if the dr. feels its necessary. I had so many do to other unecessary issues caused by a incompetent dr.

You're only suppose to have 3.

- 1st/7 weeks - Internal to see heartbeat
- 2nd/20weeks - Anatomy/Sex
- 3rd/32-33 weeks - Baby's position, and in my case how big the baby was.

I did have however a couple of extra one's because I was bleeding in the beginning, and I also had to go to Radiology because they found a cyst on my ovary (at the time they thought it was a tumor), and then they did one to see how big the baby was.

I had an internal at my first visit.

I had one at 11.5 weeks for ultrascreen.

Level II sono at about 21 weeks.

I have another next week at 33 weeks. One dr said this was unecessarity if things seem fine but the other dr in the practice likes to do them so I am getting it done because I just want to see my baby again.

I had 3 internals
(the first to see what was going on, and confirm pregnancy I suspose, the second when I went back to meet with my actual Dr., and one more to confirm heatbeat)

I only had one external around the 20 week mark...

Dr. says no more...

I had like five done. the first one to chech for sex, than another one to check for weight and fluid, than i had three more because the baby was weighing small so they wanted to check that everything was normal. What did they expect i was a small baby but she weighed 6 lbs 9 ounzes when she was born.

I feel dumb asking this, but you gals have confused me... I'm a 1st-time-mom (9wks along)... can someone go into more depth regarding the difference between U/S?

Internal/Externals? And UltraScreens? Level IIs? OH MY!

I've had two already (I'm almost 10 weeks). The first was scheduled when I was 7 weeks and the other, actually came as a surprise. It was just supposed to be a regular check-up, but the doctor decided to do a quick one.

I am being monitored as if I were high risk because of my medical history so I will be going for a sono every month. I went at 5-6 weeks and I go in 2 weeks for another and then every 4 weeks after that. They want to make sure the baby and I are going to be OK. First 1 was internal and the 2nd will be internal as well. I think all of the rest will be external.
