So, out of 115 invitations that will be sent out, 24 of those I have no idea who the people are. They are either FMILs or FFILs friends/family that I have never met.
I wish there was a 'you pay for who you invite' policy. My parents are paying for strangers to eat.
I just don't want to spend much time introducing myself to people at my own wedding. Anyone else feel weird about this?

I feel strange about this, my fh is not happy with how many of my friends parents got invited but when they are helping to foot the bill of thier first born childs wedding it is hard to argue with them...

34 out of 273. There are a lot more FH doesnt know, but my parents are paying. I agree, my mom was addressing FMIL's list yesterday and asking me who people are. I hate when I have to say, I have NO idea.

I think it just kinda comes with the territory. There's no way I'll know all of FIL's family and friends...I just hope FH knows who they are!

There are about 8 ppl that FH and I will not know bc they are friends of FMIL. FH and I are footing the bill because we are paying for the whole wedding

Heck I don't know almost 2/3 of the guests or have only met them once. Most of them are FH's friends who I haven't met yet or only met once since we've had a long distance relationship. I don't really want to spend our whole reception being introduced, but since I'll get to know most of them after the wedding I guess it's good that I'll meet them while looking my best.

Um, like 150 people are strangers, to me. This is going to be so mortifying. Hi, I'm the bride, nice to meet you....Hi, I'm the bride, nice to meet you....
At least most of them are FH's family. But my father's cousins may as well be strangers to me too, I haven't seen them in years, and if the three sisters were all right in front of me, I wouldn't be able to call them by name because I just don't know who's who!

Ahhh, the beauty of paying for your own wedding (probably the only good part, lol). There is not one person on the list that FH or I haven't met and interacted with on some level. We were trying to keep our guests between 150-175 so there was really no room for strangers, yippy!

I feel like I don't know half the wedding because it's practically all of FH's guests. But at the California reception, he won't know a soul and I'm aware of that, too. FMIL flat out said she'll pay for all her guests but she's paying for so much as it is that I'm not asking her for it.
