Me too - it's crazy. The wedding is becoming so expensive - do we really need to spend more $$$ on a video we'll watch 2 times our whole life??

If someone could give me the name of a lesser expensive (1500 MAX) videographer that is unobstrusive, i would consider that....

MY FI wants one, I don't, and neither do my parents......EEK. tough situation.

Re: How many used a videographer?

For a while, I wasnt going to do a video... but then I remembered something. My father passed away when I was 10. When I was younger, someone once asked me if there was ever a fire in my house, what would I grab first, and I said my videotapes. As a little girl, those tapes were so important to me becaues they reminded me of how my father moved, spoke and looked... because after a while those memories really do fade. So after remembering that, I almost kicked myself for even thinking that I didn't want a video...this is one of the most important days of your life, how can you not want to remember it forever.

Money is also a mega issue for me, and I found a price of around $1200, which I thought was reasonable... from all the places that I looked for video, Leli, Duet and Timeless Treasures were the most reasonable all around that $1200 price. In order to afford the extra expense I decided I would make my own photo albums (just get proofs and digital files) so I can afford the video too!

I hope this helps!

I am not doing a video and I get grief at least once a week from those who are doing one. While I recognize the desire to preserve the memories of the day, I also want to preserve the sanctity of the day. IMO the guy in my face, and the face of my guests, with a light and a camera is just not how I want my wedding. But some people would have a video over anything else so it's really up to you.

I am using one. I figure that I will be so busy during my wedding that I may not really remember it. The video may catch the things that I did not see.

Eileen, I agree with you as well, so it was really important to find an unobstrusive videographer. We went with Bliss. Jerry's style is photojournalistic and unobstrusive, he told me that if we notice him or are looking at the camera then he's not doing his job. He hand holds his camera...no tripod, no bright lights, no table interviews.

We definitely want to look back and see action shots of our guests dancing, cutting the cake, our first dance. We'll have pictures, but the video is 'live' and I can't wait to see all the raw footage.

I am, I thought I wouldn't, but I feel like so much more is going to be going on that I will not be aware of on that day, and I want to see everything I can. I will be using Timeless Treasures- I'm paying $1250.

I'm having one. We really want it. We do not like 'in your face' videographers so we are very carefully interviewing. We will probably hire a company that will send one camera person with no assistant at the wedding. So many brides tell me that they love to see the video to see whatever they missed or forgot.
