How much

weight have you lost so far?

I've been on and off WW since January and as of today I've lost 17 lbs. Woo hoo!

I've also been running a lot to get ready for a half marathon in May so I think that helped a lot too.

Re: How much

I have to shamefully report that I have not lost weight and actually feel worse about myself.

On the flipside my dress still fits me, so I can't complain... But i soo badly need to tone up!!! I have been exercising 2-3 times/week, so will try to up it as the wedding day approaches in 3 months or so.

Way to go Bride04! That's awesome!

Re: How much

I've been doing the Body For Life program and I've lost 14 pounds in 8 weeks. But the pounds don't even give the full story for me because part of the program is working out (a lot). So I've lost fat, but gained muscle. What's more impresive to me is that I've gone down 2 pants sizes and I'm nearing the next size.

Re: How much

Sunny, the Body For Life program is something that Bill Phillips came up with. He was a body builder years ago and decided that he should share his knowledge with others. The book is about $25 and I feel it is well worth the money. Basically the way it works is:

- You have to eat 5-6 meals a day
- Every meal must include a portion of protein and a portion of carbs.
- At least 2 of the meals must contain a portion of veggies.
- A portion consists of the size of the palm of your hand
- One day out of the week you have what's called a free day in which you can eat whatever you want and however much you want of it all day

The other part of the program is intense working out.

- You work out 6 days a week.
- Three days are 20 minute cardio
- Three days are weight training

He also suggests doing shakes as meal supplements. I don't have a shake everyday, but I try to get a couple in each week. There is nothing bad in the shake (nothing to speed up your heart rate), it's simply a meal supplement.

What I really like about the program is the free day. It really keeps you from cheating during your other meals and if you do slip a little, your body doesn't go into shock from the bad food because you haven't been depriving your body of it while on the diet (does that make sense?)

This is just a general idea of what the program is all about. The book lists authorized foods you can have and tells who what's considered protein and carbs. The website is www.bodyforlife.com. I highly recommend it to anyone who is willing to workout 6 times a week. Let me know if you want any more information.

Re: How much

It was hard the first couple of weeks, but after a while I got use to the routine. I forgot to mention the most important part of it... it's a 12 week program. Although I have a feeling that at the end of the 12 weeks I'll be so use to the routine I wont go back to my old ways.
