do you girls leave in your checking accounts after paying bills for the pay period? I feel like I might be leaving too much $ in and therefore not saving a lot.
I typically leave 500-800 in.

I leave very little- $200, maybe $300 if I did a lot of OT that pay period. I want just enough so that I can eat/live until my next paycheck. More than half of each paycheck goes into my savings account.

I have bills coming in all thru the month, so there is no leaving anything behind LOL usually I got left about 2-300

Every last penny after I pay my share of the regular bills goes into our joint account (wedding fund). I try to leave $20 in my personal checking but have left as little as $4.

I hardly keep ANY from check to check. Just about all my money is earmarked for bills, wedding, etc. I don't ever leave more than like $200 and that would be a lot for me.

ugh that's me too! this weeks been the worst w house problems. I'm gonna overdraft if im not careful. :(

i usually have about $500 extra each month, but i pay $300 more than i have to towards my mortgage each month so i really am saving about $200.

yeaaaah... So considering that's after paying my bills and adding some $ to savings I guess I can put more into savings and keep maybe $350-$400 in.

Same here. Mostly all of my paychecks go to bills, and we use *most* of FH's paychecks for savings. But right now, savings is slim.

My bank requires I keep a minimum balance of $1500 in my checking account. I hate that rule but I basically leave 1500 in a Money Market accound so that it still meets that rule.
Once bills are paid off, I move whatever is left to my Discover Online savings account because thats the only account right now paying a semi-decent interest rate (1.49%). I only leave around $500 in my Checking account for any emergencies but very rarely dip into it. I pay most of my bills online to avoid the possibility of checks over-drafting/bouncing.

FH taught me to only leave $200 in my bank account- it helped us save so much more money- because just I had money in my checkings, sometimes I would just spend it!

That's exactly the way I am. If I have cash on me - it's gone. So I keep little cash on me, keep little in checking, and pay my credit cards in full every month.
