How much are you spending on a band (music)?

I've seen bands ranging from $5000-$9000.
We are spending $6500, $7000 if we add extra lighting.

Which bands were you considering?

We have a few bands we are eying right now. I'm trying to get an average so my parents don't have a heart attack when i tell them the band is going to cost between $8-9K.

I found Stages at the showcase at the Inn at New Hyde Park and both my parents and I were blown away. They sounded so good and when we asked how much they are I was even more blown away. They said for the 5 peple that I saw in stage tonight it was $4,800. here is their website http://www.stagesband.com/services.htm
we are considering them but Im just worried because other bands are so expensive and they are cheap....we are goign to go see them at the INN again.

We saw a band that we liked in the 7k range. They were definately good, but my FH weren't 100% about the female lead. My FH couldn't stand her vibe.

This other band is significantly better and are booked almost already for every weekend our month. It's about $1,500 more when all is said and done- i think the initial sticker shock of any band is going to scare my parents even though they want a band. MY FIL have just planned a wedding for my FSIL so they won't be as shocked.

FH and I looked at sooo many bands before we decided on Paris! They are great!

it's crazy how much these guys get to do a wedding! bands don't even make that much when they play at bars. FH is in a band and they get between $500-1000 for a gig depending on where they play.

DJ $3,100 that is why we chose it. No band.

I'm starting to get nervous about ours now....

We paid around what everyone else is saying, a little bit more actually... and our band is only 6 pieces. The reason it costs that much is because they're also providing a 3 piece Greek band so we can switch between Greek and American music throughout the night... I just emailed them telling them that I'm getting nervous because I keep reading on here that a 6 piece band is small, expecially with our guest list (289 invited, so ~200+ expected to show...)

Should I be worried????

We didn't have many options because we needed a place that could provide Greek and American, and all of the others we looked at were Greeks singing American (BAD!!!...but funny ). Plus this band was very good, we didn't feel like we were settling at allllllll. Well, actually we did a TINY bit because in some parts of the video we watched they had back up singers and it was cool... we did want that but it was just too much $$... but as far as the quality of the band, they seemed great...

I know we can't spend any more $$ on the band... someone tell me it's gonna sound OK please lol

I had a very similar problem with my upcoming engagement party, my issue was with having american and Turkish music. so i opted for a Turkish band (3 people 3 diff instruments) and also having an american dj. this way we saved money as well. The guy in charge of the Turkish band is a Fh's friends friend so, i guess thats why i got it a great price?

in total im paying about 2000 and (traditionally) all the money thrown on the floor while people dance will go to the Turkish band as well (so the potential to make much for that night is there, but its not coming out of my pockets).
Tcotier, do Greeks also throw money on the dance floor, too?

Definitely does not sound like you overpaid!! I didn't check DJ prices, but for the band alone that sounds pretty good!

And yep, Greeks throw the $$ on the floor. lol, btw, I call my fiance Turkish all the time... his family is from Chios, it's SO much closer to Turkey than Greece!! It makes no sense!!

I'm not even going to post what i paid for my band...you'd all yell at me!!! lol
