I wanted to get my parents something but it seems so expensive so I wasn't sure. . . they are giving us a lot toward our wedding. . .

My parents paid for most of our wedding so we bought them a 42' plasma.....my inlaws helped out a bit also and we were appreciative so we got them dinner at a steak house and tickets to a broadway show.

I have no shame so I will share, we are spending way more on my parents because they are helping us out & while fmil would like to- she is not in a position to. we are getting my parents a digital picture frame & gift certificate for their favorite B&B and fmil is getting an embroidered hankie & we're paying for her hair & makeup

We are planning to give each set of parents something travel related (either a gc to a specific hotel or a travelocity gc) and plan on spending $500 or so total ($250-$300 for each set of parents). Would like to give more because they deserve it, but we can't unfortunately.

we got each set of parents frames for our wedding picture. we had also gotten DH's parents a flat screen TV since they lent us money for the wedding, but they made us return it. we also gave them their parent albums.

I believe that parents should be treated equally no matter how much they give or don't give. If they can't help financially is not because they don't want to. Also if you give them the presents together at reahearsal dinner...it might make one feel bad when the other sees the gift.

we arent doing parent albums.. will prob just give parents like one blown up pic for houses....
but parents have given a lot and i want to show them that i am gratefull...

We are getting my parents a weekend in Niagara Falls since my mom has always wanted to go. Plus come next spring (god willing) her lung cancer will be in remission and so she'll deserve some time away!)
For FILs we are getting them tixs to a bway show and a gift certificate to a favorite steakhouse of their's.

We splurged on my parents b/c they paid for almost the entire wedding. We bought them a 42' flat panel TV. They were so shocked, it was awesome! DH's parents helped out quite a bit too, so we bought tix (for us and them) to go see Jersey Boys and also treated them to dinner at Ruth's Chris. They loved it, and it was a great opportunity to spend quality time with them.

parents didn't pay for our wedding and we don't make much so I spent $50 on fh's side and I spent $85 on my parents (mom hosted the shower)

They're paying for our reception but I can't afford to give them much, so it'll be about $200 total... thanks to ideas here, I'm getting my mom a figurine and my dad an engraved digital photo frame.
What we give FH's parents, I dunno - that's up to him!

we bought my parents a really nice digital camera (my moms old one was broken and she never learned how to use it) and we got his parents a 'voucher' for dinner anywhere they want with the 2 of us. (we currently live in the same city as them)
