How Much Did Everything Cost?

hi, i need help. I am looking to have a May 08 wedding...can some of you give me roughly how much everything cost for your weddings? Help Please thank so much

Range for a wedding can go from $5000 to $70000 and up.

In short, you need to set a budget, then work with it. For example, you can spend $500 on flowers or several thousands. You can spend $500 for a dress or over $5000

I'd say the average here on LI is about 40K. But it's true some people can pull it off for 10K or 15K or less, but others go as high as 80K or 90K++. It really depends on lots of factors, like the size of your guest list, where you choose to have your reception, which vendors you choose to go with, etc.. I'd say average is 40K though.

i agree... you have to set the starting point, and then you work from there.

also, in deciding your budget, you have to decide if you want to pay cash for everything or if you are comfortable putting things on credit.

once you decide that, there are a lot of websites that help you divide your final number for each category... dress, food, music, stationery, etc.

Totally agree...there are so many factors that depend upon what your wedding will cost.

How many people,
The time of year (May is pretty popular...I'm getting married in May of 08)
Time of day
Day of the week
How many centerpieces you will need
How many flowers you need at the ceremony
Types of limos and how many
Etc., etc.

Figure out how much money you and FH want to spend on a wedding then use a budget calculator (there's a pretty good one on theknot.com) then you'll be able to get a rough budget plan.

Answer a few of those questions first then that will help you determine your budget and how much will have to spend.

What everyone else said is right...but to give you an idea, I'm having about 300 people on a Sunday night in November (its a holiday weekend though so people are off on Monday). I'm doing all my vendors pretty average, except for my photo/videographers. My wedding will probably run around $60K. The guest list is KILLING me.

You don't need to spend a large amount of money to have a great wedding......Just remember that the food and music are important. You can have a wedding in a tent and it can be beautiful.

We are getting married in March(Feb. is the cheapest month), Sat. night, 200 guest and we are going to be between 25-30 thousand. Set a budget and shop around for your vendors. Consider getting married a less popular month like Feb. or a Sunday afternoon or Friday night which is less then a Saturday night. Good luck.

Let your budget, what you can afford to spend drive your planning...not the other way around! Once you know how muh you have to spend, follow the advice of one of the ladies who mentioned the website that gives you an approximation of the % that will be spent on food, entertainment, etc.

Then ask away...the ladies on the board have great ideas on how to get things for great prices....or spend top dollar for top quality if that's how your money is!

Well, considering I wanted to keep my wedding under $30k and I see how impossible it is going to be after the reception hall, church, dress, dj, flowers, limo, invitations and whatever else is left, I'd say mine is going to come out anywhere between $35k - $40k.

Be prepared, everything with weddings is about money. It's sickening.

apparently some people take offense to these type of questions...but i figure this type of question is expected if brides want to help other brides...

so to answer your question...i'm HOPING...key word hoping everything will be b/w 35-40k...

one of they key things i would've thought about more which your wedding costs really depend on is the # OF GUESTS....so dont overinvite...or give a higher headcount to your RH just to get a better bargain...

Again..... trust me! Let you budget guide you. You budget first then work with your budget NOT the other way around. Otherwise, this is not called a budget.

this question is a very hard one for most of us ...because a lot hope its one number but it always turns out to be another . haha

when we originally had our wedding booked it was at a hall in staten island it would be costing about 60k...way too much for us since we have to pay i all by ourselves
so instead we cancelled that and booked aruba which is now costing us about 17k...big difference

it's all about what you and your FH want ...their are defin ways to save ...like making ur own invites and having it on a friday or sunday instead of a saturday

How many people are you looking to have. That would be where I would start. The more people, the more money. Once you decide on that, you need to decide where and when. Places range from $60 - $300 per person, depending on time of the year, what day/night of the week and the type of place... so that's why it's so hard for any of us to say how much to budget.

First, try to figure out a guest list and see how many people you expect to invite. Remember that this can change because moms like to add people. This will help you when you are searching for a hall. If your guest list is 80 people you'll be looking for different places than someone that has a 350 person guest list.

It's all relative. Then, make a budget. Next, find out what the most important thing to you is. (ie: would you like to spend more on a photographer, but cut down on flowers?) Shop around! I got my brand new gown for $25!!! That left more money for other things.

Weddings are very expensive, and depending on how many guests you're anticipating the prices vary BIG TIME! So the first thing what you ned to do is set an amount of people you're inviting because everything else is kind of a set price (your photographer, flowers, dress, limos, etc etc) and wont vary much on the amount of people you invite. I honestly did not have a set budget. We kind of started making periodic payments for our hall and our photographer (which were our most expensive vendors) and the rest kind of fit in at the end...our wedding (75 guests) cost us around $28-30K including all the other wedding related expenses. But you cant start by looking at how much the entire wedding is going to run you bc its really scary and discouraging.
