put down as a deposit for vendors? I think that since I have so much time till the wedding, it makes sense to try to get better prices now. But I have limited funds, so I was just wondering. Thanks!

Thats it for now. But I am paying my vendors off this year once I am finished booking them at the end of the summer..
And my next payment to my hall is 3k May 1.....

Reception site - $1500 (paid in three $500 installments) Florist - $385 (could've put less but evened it out) Video - $770 Photo - $400
You are doing the right thing. We are having a 2 year engagment and people looked at me like I had 10 heads, and let me tell u we saved a lot of $$$ by booking all the vendors 2 years in advance. The hall wanted 750.00 , and then every few months payments, photo wanted half, DJ 500.00,video half also. Good luck with all your plans, and do not let anyone tell u u have all the time in the world, it goes by fast, I have 11 months left and I still have a list of things to do. (Thank G-d only small stuff).

Thanks Ladies That gives me a pretty good idea of what I need to put down. My parents are actually paying for the hall, so that is one thing I do not need to worry about. We were stupid because we fell in love with a place that took up the entire amount of money that my parents gave us for the wedding. We just didn't find anywhere else we liked, but that's ok, we can just start saving and paying now. Thanks again!
hall:$1000 deposit and then $1000 for 3 months after. photo: $500 video: $500 band: $750 deposit and then another $750 one month later

I know exactly what you mean. Since our wedding is not until Sept. 2004, we were able to book alot of vendors at 2002 and 2003 prices. Hall: $1000 (have paid with the initial deposit $7500 already) Photographer: $200 (since the initial deposit, I have gave him some more money, so I have gave him with the $200 about $1000) Videographer: $600 Limos: $100 (since the initial deposit, I have gave him some more money, so I have gave him with the $100 about $1800) DJ: $200 Church: I did not need to leave a deposit

Most of my vendors wanted a third of the cost as a desposit (photo, hall, and video) I don't know if that's normal, but we started planning late so maybe that's why.
