How much did you pay to get your dog spayed or neutered?
I know this might be an odd question, but if you have gotten a dog spayed or neutered in the past year or two, would you mind sharing what you paid? My husband and I are having our dog spayed today and I swear every visit to our vet makes us think we are getting robbed!! I like our vet, but the fees are out of control.

We take Ginny to Banfield, which is the Vet hospital in Petsmart (I don't know where there are any on LI). It's a GREAT deal. We paid $99 in June, and then $20 a month since. We're in contract for a year. It covers ALL of Gin's shots, office visits, her spaying, and a good portion of the other incidentals. Plus, Ginny loves the staff, but not as much as they love her!
I don't know if that will help you, but really, it's $340 a for everything she needed over the WHOLE year for us.

I will be taking my new puppy to the Little Shelter to get fixed. I called there and they said it was $85. I wasnt to fond of it because its a shelter but they fix practically every dog that goes in there so they must know what they are doing. If you go to their website you can call to see how much your dog will be.

I paid for Otis with everything plus he need another shot was $275.00

We've had most of our cats fixed at Island Rescue in Bay Shore. It costs us $50 (includes rabies shot). I'm not sure how much they charge for dogs.

The aspca has a spay neuter van that provides fixing for a very low price.

The procedure itself was close to $300, but Bama got some kind of internal infection that my idiot vet couldn't figure out, so with all the visits back and forth to the vet (and a cardiologist!!!) his neuter cost us almost $1000 Needless to say we kicked that vet to the curb!

Is this price including vaccines, heartworm preventative, bloods and the procedure? I'm also thinking that with such a high number, your dog had uterine probs...infection?
If you paid $500 for a healthy dog to get a simle spay, that's way too much.

No Kathy, unbelievably that price was for my totally healthy, six-month-old puppy to get spayed. There were no complications or problems. Arrrggghhhh, I've got to find a good vet that doesn't rob people! Thanks for affirming what I already knew!
ETA: It didn't include vaccinations or heartworm, I've already paid for that. This was just the spay and the 'dispense meds.'

I paid about 500 to have my cat spayed a few years ago. I was defenitly ripped off. They took advantage of me because I was alone and young. Since then, I have gone to AA Vet in Franklin Square (not the same one that ripped me off) and paid about $100-150 for my kitten.
