This kind of goes with the last discussion question in the book...but it does not have to be about weight.
There were so many scenarios where I felt I could have been cannie myself...
*wanting the wrong guy (as a reader I could see that Bruce was wrong...but I know the feeling as the person, you cannot see it)...especially after you wanted to end it...
*her relationship with her father...while my father was definitely nothing like hers...we have had a rocky relationship...and I felt connected with her to some degree
*being so angry...I was so angry at the 'Pusher'...I would have been so mad at the situation...but is anger what the situation needed? I actually was thinking in my head that I would have sued the Pusher.

Re: How much did you relate to Cannie - Good in Bed
Actually I saw bits and pieces of myself and many of my friends in Cannie. However, her pining over Bruce WAS pathetic and borderline irritating.
I have never had a weight problem per se, but I think that I went through awkward phases in junior high where I wanted to be invisible. As an adult, I have not experienced that and I thought she put wayyyy to much emphasis on her weight. I much related much more to Abigail, even though her appearance wa brief, becuase I am definitely comfortable in my own skin depite what I recognize as my flaws.

I related to Cannie alot. I always had a weight problem and when I was younger I would go crazy for a guy who would show me attention. As I got older, I realized that those guys were the wrong type of guy.

I didn't really relate to her all that much... Cannie was a much more forward person (acting before she thinks) and I'm not like that at all. The weight thing was something I could relate too (I'm not really overweight, but I could see feeling that way).
I also don't think I would have gone to visit my father like that. I'm more of a wimp, I would have called or just left it alone. Maybe spied on him, but not confront him.

I related to Cannie mostly on the weight and self esteem issues. There were so many times when I said 'yep, that could've been/happened to me'.
As far as her straight forwardness, I couldn't relate to her in that way at all, but I wish I were more like her in that area.

I can somewhat relate to Cannie. I have always been conscious of my weight, although have never been overweight.
The thing I can't relate to is her low self esteem: I can't imagine to have done what she has, no matter how interesting/attractive the other person is. They needed to like me for who I was.
I do wish I had Cannie's persistance with regard to working out

I can relate to her with the straighforwardness, but I would have never done something like what she did with her father. I feel it was not worth it, had no point and really showed her lack of respect for herself.

Re: How much did you relate to Cannie - Good in Bed
There were ways in which i related to Cannie Staying with the wrong guy for the wrong reasons is a big one. I think that her bad relationship choices were definitely created by her relationship with her father, which i totally relate to. And, even though I am not 'overweight', I think that I have had image issues and they have reflected in my choices, like Cannie. I envied her anger, I could never be as reactive as she was.

Re: How much did you relate to Cannie - Good in Bed
I was able to relate to the way she hung on to hope after she and Bruce broke up. Even though she was the one who broke it off, she had second thoughts...been there, done that.
It was a little painful to read and relate to the way she pined for him and called him, esp. the 'dial-while-drunk' thing she did with Maxie at the bar. Oh, boy...I learned that lesson long ago...
