How much did you spend for your gown? How to address this question if you don't want to say...
If you buy a dress at a place , say , Vera Wang, and you spend a bit more than the average person...and rather not say to your co-workers how much you spent, what is the appropriate response for those who MUST know?
It's getting agitating..

depends who is asking, I am buying my own gown so when people ask I just say'it really does not matter what the price tag is, is my day'( iknow it sounds like i'm a snob' but I am not one it just that it makes me so mad when people inquire about things they do not pay for.. that is just me but when my mom asks how much I just tell her not to worry...

First of all I want to say again how GORGEOUS your dress was.
If you want my HONEST opinion of what I would say to them ( besides how its none of there buisness unless they want to pick up the bill for you)
I would say ' I didnt even look at the price tag.. it was perfect and thats all that mattered' Or you can say ' It was a gift from my parents and I thought it was rude to even ask'
Honestly I was so in love with my dress when I got it that I didnt even think to look at the price tag until I already told them this was the dress and I would take it and she started to figure out how much of a deposit I had to leave. It must run in the family b/c my mom did the EXACT same thing when she found her MOB dress.

Well, it's a little rude for someone to ask you that question but people do things like that. If someone asked me, I'd probably say something very similar to the above posts: 'My dress was a top priority, so I decided to just go with the one I loved regardless of the price tag.'

When someone asks me questions on how much I spent on anything for the wedding I always reply with 'enough.' Also say that to the people that ask me how much money I make. Then after I say it the first time they ask me again and say 'No really how much was it' and I say 'enough' and they get the point. Sometimes people have no clue.

I used the famous,
'I don't even know. My mom (or insert another person) wanted to give me my wedding gown as a gift. She didn't even let me see the price tag.'

Humm. That's a hard one. But my co-worker asked and i told them it was well-priced. I am not telling them how much i spent, its none of their business.

I always give the, 'I spent as much as I was willing to pay.' That usually shuts people up.

I usually call people on it...something like,
'Why do you ask...are you offering to pay for it????' or 'Is there a reason why you want to know, is someone getting married that I don't know about.'
They usually just laugh it off and move on.

If they're obnoxious enough to ask, I reply w/ an equally obnoxious - 'You know ? I didn't even LOOK at the price .......' The price of ANYTHING is no one's business. Unless someone is genuinely asking b/c they need help, are in the same situation etc. - But otherwise, MYOB !!

I know how you feel - I always feel that way when people ask me how big my ring is. I always get uncomfortable telling them. A few times I've said it b/c I didn't know what else to do. And a few times I say that I never asked DH and he picked it out. I would never ask people what they spent on their dress!

That's funny, i have a smiliar situation, but it's a little different. me and my FH are waiting to close on a house soon, and i can't believe how may people have asked me what we offered. I don't know, but is that rude? in the beginning we were put on the spot and just answered as a result of inexperience, but truthfully, should we have???

There are websites, such as domania.com, that list the prices that houses were sold for. It it also often listed in the newspaper. So, if people really want to know what you paid for the house, they can easily find out. I wouldn't worry about it- you can pretty much guarantee the people who sell the house will tell everyone what they got for it anyway.
