Did you do a percent of their price or a flat rate. Just want to gauge what to give her. She doesn't own the company, she is an employee.

I think so... I am tipping my photog and he is the owner. I just think its a little extra something for working really hard for us. Not necessary but I am.

WOAH that would've been more than half the cost for me! I feel a little like maybe I did something wrong now...
I tipped $80 (I believe) on top of the cash balance I gave her. I have a hard time remembering exactly what I gave everyone but I think that was it.
I really went with the 'do what your gut tells you' as far as tipping goes.

she had given us a gratuity guide with a whole list of vendors on that was a range for DOC and assistant...we tipped at the high end of that range becuse we were SO happy with them...we also won her services so we felt we should show her how much we appreciated her with our tip! Ultimately, it's up to you....i was just sayin what we did

Do you think you still would have given $250 if you had paid for her services? I am just curious because I don't want to give just $100 if I should be giving more. Do you remember what the range was? My DOC did not put a range on hers so I wasn't sure. She just wrote whatever we think is appropriate. So I don't want her to be disappointed if I only gave her $100. Thanks for your input!

Totally totally makes sense -- I just felt like I had done something wrong! But if you had won their services, it completely makes sense to me, too, and I would've done the same. I had a friend of my dad's daughter do my makeup as a gift to me (she offered) since she's a professional makeup artist and I gave her a HUGE tip, well beyond what I gave pretty much anyone else since I felt like her services were free and she deserved it so I totally see where you're coming from. Thanks for explaining!

I absolutely would hvae given her towards the upper end of the range even if I had paid for her. In fact, she was so good my Dad said 'I would have paid double for her.' (And he thought wedding planners were pointless!) She was fabulous and I had a really special connection with her. She deserved every penny and truthfully I wish I could have given her more. Sandra, i never said you did anything 'wrong' at all...a tip is osmething that you have to give based on what you feel comfortable with. To the original poster, the range was 100-250...you give what works for you and im sure the DOC will be grateful!

Thanks Lauren. Right now I have $100 in the envelope for her. For all vendors we put our minimum tip in the envelope and will adjust it accordingly at the end of the night. So there is a good chance she will get a bit more.
