I ordered a CD name change kit on ebay. I remeber looking at it once. I personally don't think it is worth it....thank G-d I only paid like $5 for it.

im just hoping i dont forget anything.....license/dmv, insurance, cred cards, checks/banking info, what else? there are forms on here? i havent really looked into it yet...im getting married in sept...when do i have to start doing this? am i going to have a problem using my passport when we go on our honeymoon if it has my maiden name? (the plane tix will too).....

No, you won't have a problem using a passport wiht your maiden name on your honeymoon but, make sure you book your plane tickets in your maiden name.
You can't really do anything about changing your name until after you have your marriage certificate so you have awhile to put together a list of everything you need to change.

Social Security card . . . don't forget that.
Your passport and your plane tickets have to match so that is okay. You won't be able to change anything for a few weeks after your wedding. You have to wait for your official marriage certificate to get to you. A friend of mine got married in December and we were talking about this a few weeks ago.

No, you have to wait until you are actually married to do it (once the license has been signed, processed and returned to you).

for a legal name change you don't need a kit.
You need to go down to the social security administration with your marraige license and have them legally issue you a new SS card and using that you cange change all that other fun stuff like your license, CC etc.

You have to wait until its processed and returned to you????? How long does that take?
I am having my mom mail it out the day after we get married so at least its being processed while we are away on our honeymoon. I was hoping when I got back from my honeymoon to go to the various offices to make the changes...but thats about 10 days after the wedding. I bet I won't get it back by then to do this right?
