How much do you spend on shower gifts for friends?

Let's say it's a friend you see maybe a couple of times a year....

what would you spend?

I'm obviously not Ms. Moneybags right now...but I hope I'm not being cheap. I'm spending about $60. Is that okay? It's been awhile since I had to buy a shower gift for a friend so I'm not even sure what's acceptable....last time i want to say I spent around $80 and she was a pretty close friend. I remember my mom yelling at me saying I spent too much! I also made my friend a DIY photo album.

Would that look bad if I only spent around $60? And that's including wishing well....

That is fine if she is not a close friend.

not a close friend no more than $50...but a very close friend $100 or more.

I think $60 would be totally appropriate.

Sounds alright to me, I would have said around 50 if you are not that close.

That's fine. I think people sometimes go overboard with these things. I had my shower yesterday and I'm just happy people came. The presents were a bonus.

Tara, that totally sounds fine!!! I would have said about $50 for a friend who is not one of my BEST friends.

I think that $60 is fine for someone who is not a close friend.

i recently spent $40 on not a close friend; she knows i'm getting married soon too, AND i recently had my shower and she didn't send anything!!! (she lives in florida). and she rsvp'd NO and i went to her wedding in florida! she has another wedding the same day as mine and she's doing a reading. which is fine. but no shower gift??

it depends ~ if not so close $50.00 ish if a i am close with someone probably $100.00 + i usually go overboard - i just start having fun!

$60 is more than fine. I usually spend between $40 and $60 - depending on the person.
