I'm not sure but i know me and my husband don't make anywhere near those amounts.

I guess everyone is rich.

You are not alone- DH and I may as well be working for the people in the $200K club!

I think all those people who said that they make over 200,000 are the same ones who also say they change their sheets once a week.

ever since I saw that chlorox commercial about body soil, i have been SOO anal about the sheets, and even *I* dont change them that often... but i also dont make 200K.

i dont know where i was going with this one, but i just realized i'm poor and i sleep in body soil. Great.

Honestly, most people I know that make that much don't have as much time to spend on LIW as I do. Either they spend more time at work, or what little time they have with their DH/FH, they don't want to spend online. Many of the people I've met on here are teachers--I would say make a decent salary, but probably won't be rolling in the dough. And as for the person making over $200,000 combined who still can't afford a home on LI--there are many people making a lot less doing it...

Here is a link that I use for research for statistical earnings. Towards the middle it has it by age group (25-35), by race, and educational attainment and by sex. For our calculation purposes we use for most cases say,
35 year old male, non-hispanic white, full-time all year round. If you scroll over to the median earnings for bachelor's degree, masters, etc. we take that number and then add a 20% adjustment for NY since it is a national survey. That will give you an idea of earnings, without taking into consideration what type of job they have.

I think most people make 50+ a year but maybe I am just naive. I have been gone from LI a long time but my hat is off to anyone who lives on LI making less than 100K.

I disagree. Or maybe I delude my self that I am not underpaid. Dh &I make less than that & have been working full time for 7 years. We live in Westchester, but rent. But then again, I looked online today & saw starting receptionist salaries for $45-$50K.

Well, we're just poor right now...I'm a full time student with NO income, and DH earns a salary that's probably in the low-average range....once I start working, things will be much better!

I think the national average household income is in the low 30's.

I agree.

i'm a full time law student (2 months until graduation...thank god!) I made $2500 last year working part time, and I paid out over $25k in loans alone!! You need to add a negative section to your poll.

Male, 35, White, Bachelors degree is like 10k more than a woman in the same category

My guess as to the average for people on this site would be 75-90k combined for those in their early-late 20's, and 90-130k for those in their early - late 30's, then up from there.

We make over $100,000, but we are poor...yep....
2 houses, a timeshare, 2 cars, and 2 sets of utility bills, LIRR ticket from ronkonkoma, 2 dogs and wedding debt....

poor.....and it rots. house rich, cash poor!
