How much do you weigh?

Original post by esb980

I know this is really personal, so if you could just vote I'd appreciate it.... I just want to know where I stand, in terms of what the norm is..... I think my self image is off and I'm bad at guessing weight!

Im HATING my body these days bc i suffer from a bad stomach condition and my stomach decides at a moments notice that it wants to distend itself to 3x its normal size. I truly could pass for a first trimester pregnant woman and im MISERABLE and there is NOTHING the dr can do for me

Do you have IBS? Does it happen after you eat certain thing, like dairy or bread products? I've been having issues like that for a long time. It stinks!

i'm 5'2' and about 98-99 lbs. yes i am thin, too i look it, not really. my doctor tells me i'm healty, its just my genes. i can eat what i want and not gain any weight. but its me, not anybody else. my fh has some weight issues, and its hard for me to understand b/c i've never been there, but i still support him. i don't jump to conclusions about people who are overweight, and i hate it when people see me and think 'oh, she must have some sort of eating disorder.' sorry for the rant, but it gets old after awhile, you know

Don't worry I used to be 174, and I'm only 5'2' I lost 30 lbs, and I've been keeping it off, and now I'm about a size 10, sometimes a size 8. I'm trying to lose 20 more lbs. for the wedding. I NEVER thougtht I'd lose the weight. I was sooooo unhappy with myself. But I had a health scare and decided to lose the weight so I never had to worry about diabetes. Bottom line: if you want to lose the weight, you can do it. There are a bunch of different diets out there, and you could also see a nutritionist or even a personal trainer. You can do it!! So no worries

are you me?!? After my breast reduction, I dropped a lot of weight. I went from wearing a 12 or sometimes even a 14, down to a 10, sometimes an 8.

I'm still not comfortable in my body though. I always feel bigger than everyone else I'm with. FH makes it clear that he loves me just the way I am, but I can't help but look at pics of us from 5 years ago, and wish I had that body back. Wedding diet will start when I officially pick a date, and my biggest goal will be exercise.

i am 5 4 and i range from 120-123. i lost 20 lbs last year, because when i got on the scale and weighed 140, the same as my fh i decided i need to look smaller than him on the wedding day. my sister always tells me that i look the best now, but i would still like to lose around 10 lbs more. the only good thing i have is that my chest is a dd and even with losing weight it hasnt moved!

I am 5'4 and my weight is 108.
But I still need to lose around 8 more pounds especially my belly and I have a chubby cheek.

Sorry, bored with 05 board tonight and tuning into you girls.
At 5'4 - 108lbs I doubt you need to be 100lbs! You're probably tiny already.
Anyone finding wedding planning to be a natural diet plan ?- the STRESS!
Anyway, numbers on a scale don't matter- only you and your doctor know if you're healthy and that's most important.

i wholeheartedly agree. at 5'4, 108 seems VERY thin..can't imagine how 100 would look, too skinny in my opinion.

Our culture is completely too weight obsessed. My motto is, as long as I FEEL healthy and am taking care of my body, i'll eat a cheeseburger or fries or ice cream whenever i like! Life is TOO short and besides..

FH likes me with some meat on my bones. I used to hate my thighs, butt, etc but have grown to be ok with my body. As soon as the weight obsession stops, you'll feel a lot better

Re: How much do you weigh?

Some girls have expressed shock and sadness over discovering that they might be medically obese. According to those charts, I'm obese, not overweight but obese. Admittedly, my current weight is probably bad for my heart, but it seems like a lot of us are getting hung up about the word 'obese' because of what we tend to associate obesity with - weight v. health. I think this is what Goldi1021 is trying to tell us. So, please don't rely on those charts for your body image - health is very separate and you should rely on your doctors for that. But just so you can see for yourselves, here's a pic of me in my wedding dress - obviously obese means something different medically than it does colloquially because it's not a word I would ever use to describe my body. Overweight - sure, but not obese. My heart might feel differently about that, but that's why it's important for us to know what obese really means - Goldi1021 thanks for reminding us of that because it's an important difference, and an entirely different thing we should all be worried about, regardless of our weight.

ETA: sorry about the bad resolution - I still can't figure out how to shrink pics on my Mac, but I can lower the resolution enough to post...

Re: How much do you weigh?

I did the BMI calculation from Leslie's post - does that just measure if you're overweight/obesity? How do you know what's healthy ? Anything below 25 or is there such thing of too low of a BMI?

Re: How much do you weigh?

i just did mine and its 17.5 - so according to this i'm underweight. but it just shows me what my number is, not what it should be.

Yes this WAS what I was trying to say. Body image is a very touchy thing. Even after a 115 pounds weight loss, I still perceive myself as heavier than I am. I always go for the bigger sizes and am shocked when I fit into a size 10. There are people who are heavy and healthy and there are people who are heavy and UNhealthy. It is the latter group that has to be careful - that was ME 3-4 years ago.

I would imagine that it is possible to have a BMI that is too low. But one would have to do the research on it. I can only comment from my own experiences. There are people who struggleto gain weight in orderto be healthy.

Here is one thing I DID learn though. Women with a little more meat on their bones tend to have a stronger bone density and fewer incidences(sp) of osteoperosis. The bones have to be strong to hold the extra pounds. Women who were once heavy maintain this bone density even after they lose weight. My mother who could stand to lose about 100 or so pounds has very strong dense bones while her THIN sister has debilitating osteoperosis which may force her to retire prematurely. I am sure everyone is different, but considering they share similar genes, it makes you wonder.

Re: How much do you weigh?

I'm 5'3 and used to weigh between 115 lbs and 120 lbs. Since I quit smoking, I went up to 140 lbs, then dropped weight and I think I'm around 130 lbs now, so I'm trrying to lose that last 10 lbs. It's hard, but FH is really supportive.

I'm 5'6 128lb - my dream weight is 118 and I'm trying to get down to 118 by the wedding!

We'll see I'm the worst dieter ever!

Re: How much do you weigh?

Try Weight Watchers - I think it's a great, healthy & easy way to lose weight. I did it online about a year ago. And they're not just out to make $$, they won't let you join if they deem you too thin (I know this b/c I tried to sign up again after gaining a few pounds in the winter and they rejected me).

Re: How much do you weigh?

I dont think weight matters.. it is all a state of mind..

I have always been on the chubby side.. and I know I will never been a size 4.. but when I eat healthy .. and I feel good about myself.. I feel like the skinniest person aound..

Dont stress about the chart they lie!!
