It depends on a lot of things, like size, and features of the house. You can try www.netquote.com. Also whether or not you're in an area that floods.
I am also going to call GEICO tomorrow- we have our car ins. through them already. You can't do online quotes for NY for some reason. If you're interested the # is 800-841-2964. I will let you know if I find anything else out.

Re: How much does homeowners ins cost?
We were quoted $813 with a $1000 deductible. I forget who it's through, though. Is the insurance higher depending on what area the house is in? B/c my parents pay about $100 and change less than that and we were told that it was the area the house is in. Thanks!

Re: How much does homeowners ins cost?
It totally depends. Ours is a lot because the age of the house and we had to get coverage for our whole mortgage. We are going to lower it after closing. Plus, I put my ring on it which brought it up $190.
StateFarm was the lowest quote and Allstate was the highest. But StateFarm was giving us low coverage.

Ours is over $1000. There are a lot of factors. And some coverage is better then others. For instance the hurricane deductible. I know Statefarm was giving us a 5% deductible which is huge. We ended up getting a 2% deductible somewhere also. And on a house over $400,000, that is a big difference.

Re: How much does homeowners ins cost?
we haven't decided who we are going w/ but the quotes we received range from 1200 - 1500.
as mentioned it depends on A LOT of factors (age of home, location, sq ft, construction, deck, patio, garage, # of bdrms, bths, alarm, fp, lot size etc).
eta: if you add auto, the rate for HO ins will decrease

Re: How much does homeowners ins cost?
$500 deductible and $753 a year - very good coverage too. the insurance is paid with your first mortgage and taxes in the monthly payment

You can sometimes get a discount if you or DH belong to a union, you might want to try looking into that. HTH

Re: How much does homeowners ins cost?
ours is around $700 with Allstate. Is there some sort of discount for being less than 500ft. from a fire hydrant? I just heard this
