I think that is a reasonable price for good silverware.

Mine is the same amount (Lenox Federal Platinum). I too think the whole china pattern/silverware cost is a little absurd but apparently this is what people are expecting so don't worry about it.

That's the one we chose too!! I would so rather having that money spent on furniture instead of silverware that will be used at most 3 times a year.. even if.

Re: How much does your good silverware cost per plate setting?

My silver is Bel Chateau by Lunt. It is about $150 a setting.

On a side note- We registered for the same silver that FH's sister has without knowing it. Of all the patterns in the world, who would have thought we would end up with the same one. We've never even had a formal meal at her house! (She's out of state and a lot 13 years older than FH)

Re: How much does your good silverware cost per plate setting?

Ours is platinum with diamond encrusted handles, $3,000 per place setting.

$30 a setting sounds like a normal price, all you do is eat off it.

Re: How much does your good silverware cost per plate setting?

Anything $2500 is real silver. -
We registered for silver plated which is about $35 a setting I think -
My grandma actually gave us her real silver- it's worth a fortune . -
I wouldn't have registered for real silver only b/c it's not at all important to me personally - i'd rather spend the money on something else
It IS nice however, if you do get it - it's great to pass along through generations (ie I got my Grandma's !! )

Re: How much does your good silverware cost per plate setting?

We didn't get real silver- we don't have a maid- and how else does one keep the silver from tarnishing- kudos to you ladies with the hired help. Ours was $50 a setting.

Um.... I don't think you need 'hired help' to have real silver. - I think I'm perfectly capable of breaking out the rag and polish and going to town myself. -

I didn't get any good silverware. 20 bucks for my place settings. I'm a little clumsy and tend to break stuff so I went cheap

I agree, that was sort of an odd thing to say. Plenty of people get real silver, whether it's registered for or inherited. Polishing it sucks, which is why I didn't bother, but not because I don't have a maid to do it!
